how to take off headlight rings

can someone please give me a step by step on how to take of the headlight rings. Do the headlights have to come out if so how that looks kind of difficult. Is there any headlight alignment issue when doing this? Regualr lamps not xenon. Also when looking at the rings I only see three tabs all on the bottom half of the ring is this all thats holding the ring on and any suggestions on not breaking these????Thanks!!!!!!!

How funny.. I just took mine off a min ago.. There will be 3 bolts that hold the headlight int he car hood. Take the 3 bolts off.. Then disconnect the wire going to the headlight. The entire thing comes out as one piese.. Doesn't even touch the adjustment settings.. CAREFULLY take a straight blade screwdriver and you will see how the chrome ring is clipped on the headlight housung. Take the blade and get as close to the little clips and slowly turn the blade to seperate the clips. I just did both of mine for the first time and it was cake.

Talk to Lyle at http://www.lylesvinylstyles.net/
He's the man when it comes to this and can probably give you some good pointers.
And yes, I'm pretty sure you can get replacement rings from the dealer.

no, I believe my first thread on this was whether or not the rings were plastic or metal

I had some vinyl I picked up the other day at a sign shop.. Tried a few times to cover the rings with it. Used a hair dryer to heat it up and everything. Every time I still had little bubbles or imperfections in the job. Maybe from afar it looked ok but just standing there I hated it. If your thinking about changing the color I would have someone do it for you that know what they are doing.. I got so tired of trying I just sanded the rings down and painted them.

Yes you can get just the rings. I got mine from realoem.com. They aren't very exspensive.
