Firming up the shifter feel

I'm going with an alta or craven shifter and I noticed that they don't have the metal supports that the B&M have. Does anyone have a place to get them or ideas as to how we can firm up the shifter to make it as close to a gated feel as possible. I would spend a stupid amount of money (if I had to) to improve this area on our cars. Or are there any shifters in a research and development phase where I could be a guiena pig for. I know the plastic linkage is the weak link so does anyone have any help? Thanks in advance

I cannot help you, but I can say that I have had the Alta for well over a year now...maybe almost 2...And I love it, WWWAAAAAAYYYYYY stiffer than stock. I find it to be very good and I do not think I would "stiffen' it up at all, but a gated shifter would be heaven.

Wasn't someone doing up a prototype shifter that was really ***** to the wall? I mean someone on here has to have something really cutting edge other than just the adj. short shift .....right? I mean if they do I can throw a pile of money their way, because every time I drive other cars especially detroit ones with direct linkage I really say to myself if I only had this ion the mini it would rock. So is anyone working on anything new?

Check with onasled, he has a full race mini with custom shift setup and full Tilton pedals

He is probably your best shot!

Well I ended up going with the craven SSK because I couldn't justify the extra 50 for the WMS one. Especially since I allready have their chrome shift cover. I'll keep everyone posted as to my .02 on everything once I get it in. Thanks

anyone else come up with any ideas?

my shifter on my 06 cooper tends to walk back and forth with some slop when im in neutral.. and and a tiny bit IN gear..

keep in mind my shifter is also 4 inches taller than stock due to an extension to aide my seating position.

anyone have metal bushes or anything to insert to firm it up?
