Grille Questions

Does anyone know if you can get the black grille without having to buy the John Cooper works accessory? I'd like to change the current grille I have that from the chrome. Any suggestions?

Are you talking about the JCW black grille surrounds, like on my car?

If so, you can just buy the two black grille surround pieces to get rid of the chrome ones.

Do you have a Cooper or an S? I'm not sure if you mean the surrounds or the actual grill.

Scott, is your hood scoop the JCW CF one or is it painted black? Looks sweet with the grille surrounds.

It is the JCW carbon fiber scoop...slightly hard to tell at a distance, but once you get closer, you definitely see that awesome weave of the carbon fibers!

Okay I got a grille from New Country Mini but it still has chrome above the black and the person there said it was the one for the Cooper 07. It was $81 from Mini, my question is how do you remove the original grille?

I was also questioning the grille they had its not carbon fiber but just paintd black. Is that because its for the Cooper and not the S?

I just did mine the other day. Look around NAM I'm pretty sure someone has described in detail how to do it.
You basically pop the "plugs" out of the top and squeeze 2 releases at the bottom. I know that's not much detail but I didn't shoot photos when I did it.
Didn't you write you had justacooper? If so the S grill won't work with the chrome justacooper trim and you have to get the JCW black grill. I know because I tired an S first and the chrome didn't fit.

It is for the Cooper sorry for the confusion of my post. I may just return this one and get the jcw kit from Outmotoring. I'm terrible at getting the right parts, I'm new to modding cars, so I'm sorry if I get my terms wrong. The part I got today is probably correct just without the surround pieces. Is there a way to look up the part number on-line? I appreciate the assistance.

I also have a Pepper white Mini, it looks sharp in that combo.

No problem, I was confused about this too. So do you want the chrome on the car now or black for the top and bottom trim? That decides a couple of things.
Outmotoring is where I got my JCW grill only. If you want to keep the chrome on justacooper you need to get the JCW grill. If you want black you can get them with the JCW grill as a kit.
Yeah the black grill on a PW looks nice!

Well I do want to have an all black grill but the one I just bought today from the dealer for justacooper still has chrome above the black (that's the piece I haven't installed yet.) It looks like that the chrome part can come off so I think if I ordered the JCW piece that's $69 it should be all I need is that correct?

Sorry but when you say all black do you want to end up no chrome at all? None above and below as trim? What did you already get from New Country Mini? An S grill?

Pick a look:

I wonder if they sold you an S grill. To get all black you have to get the JCW. The JCW grill is just like the S material but the openings are a little more horizontal.
Outmotoring has the JCW kit.

BTW, if you are at all thinking about driving lights there is a JCW grill with openings already cut for the brackets.

On Tuesday I'll bring the part back I think you're right about it being for the S, it didn't seem to fit when I compared it to the current grill. I'll order the JCW kit from Outmotoring. I saw the JCW Kit for $69 is that the right one to pick up? Thanks again for your help.

Yep that's the one. Just make sure you order the Cooper version and not the S. If you have questions call or email them. They're easy to deal with.

And post a picture when you have it installed!

Hay again I got it installed by new country and it looks great I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow if anyone wants to see it. I'm pysched for the future customization I'll do. I plan on getting the checkerboard mirror caps for all three mirrors.

Any recommendations for rims? I like the gun metal rims that Mini has but not for $2,100. Are there any good after market rims?

We just bought two sets of rims and wheels, mounted and balanced, from Discount Tire Direct. We bought one set of Drag DR-14 gunmetal rims that were $899 shipped for the whole set up, plus the lugs and all that. I bought a set of black Drag DR-19s for $833 shipped. So yeah, there are loads of options out there *much* cheaper than the MINI rims.
