Deep fried twisties - Upstate motoring fun Saturday 02 February
Who is in for a really fun drive on Saturday 02 February?
I have a most excellent itinerary that is really short on traffic and lights, and is really long on twisties and deep-fried goodness.
Meet in Greenville at the Cherrydale shopping center parking lot 10:30 outside the movie theater. Here is a map of the meeting location:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=e...0735248&li=lmd
Depart Cherrydale at 11:00 and cross Paris Mountain via Altamont Road replete with excellent twisties and a 1500 foot elevation change.
Proceed via US25 to Highway 11.
Motor west on Highway 11 to River Falls Road.
Turn northeast on River Falls Road to Gap Creek Road.
Proceed on Gap Creek Road to US 25 while enjoying more nice turns and twisties.
Motor south on US25 to Old US25.
Travel northeast on Old US25 to Saluda Road while enjoying excellent sweepers and avoiding hitting too many bicyclists (with any luck they'll be off the road at this point).
Continue towards Saluda on Saluda Road/Mountain Page Road/Greenville Hwy.
Cross the railroad tracks to enter Saluda and turn southeast onto Highway 176.
Enjoy travelling down the Saluda Grade with its sweepers and twisties.
Motor along Highway 176 through the towns of Tryon, Landrum, Campobello and Inman.
Enter I-26 towards Columbia at Inman and proceed a few miles to exit at SC 296 (Reidville Rd).
Proceed east on SC 296 and arrive for a late lunch at the world famous Beacon restaurant.
After lunches-a-plenty and socializing, return home feeling happy for having had such a great time on a winters day.

How do you know he was being sarcastic? He very well may like looking at birds
