Heres a great Run idea!!
saw this on National Geo channel, there have been hundreds of people killed on this road. They are cutting a new one on the other side of the mountain which will be safer. One man was in a bus and it was knocked off by a truck and he was the only one that lived. Next month another bus ride and it went off and he was the only one to make it. Swore he would never ride another bus.
So Trace, should I book your tickets for you and your mini to go to Bolivia? You do it and I'll buy you an I survived the Death Road tshirt! and I'm sure we can get Anna to make you something super sweet to calm those nerves!

There was actually a story on this road last night on Nightline. The story was about bikers who actually bike down the road for fun. They say they have built a different route to the top, and now the Road of Death is mainly used by local farmers and such.

I don't think there's enough sweets in the world to calm the nerves for that drive!
When we were on Maui, we rented a Mustang 'vert. We were staying at the resort in Kapalua. I took that road across the top in this map, the one that disappears, that Hertz says voids your rental agreement if you take it, the one that makes Hana or Highway 1 in CA look like a stinking cake walk.
It was similar, but not as bad as the road you posted here, only the locals take it, and not very far, and there is a village there full of hippies who supposedly kill tourists for money. Well, we survived, but I'd never do it again, and we were "confronted" by a small group of hippies. Needless to say, with our frame of mind where it was, they really didn't want to mess with us and after I refused their offer to sell us some pot unequivocally and not very graciously, moved away from the car.
Like I said, I did it to say I did, and I'd never do it again. As for the road to Hana, it's just a bunch of twisties, similar to what we do on any given Saturday, sans the beautiful flora.
