I'm all set to place my order for an '08 MCS, but I keep going back and forth between the Laser Blue and Dark Silver. Whichever one I get, it'll have a black roof and I'm thinking black viper stripes. I'm having trouble finding pics with these colors and stripes. Any thoughts or pictures to help me decide?

 

Now that's a hard one, two of my favorite colors!!! Other than PW of course... Since you're set on the black roof I'd go with DS. Although LB is very nice, IMO it goes better with a white roof. With those two choices you really can't go wrong though.

 

Hello, I have the DSM, I almost went with the blue though, but I didn't think it looked good with black roof, I probably would have went with white on the blue. Anyway, I have the black bonnet stripes with black jcw grille suround.
Check out pics in my gallery, I just added some black 17" konig feathers
I'm considering taking off the stripes and replacing them with the cobra stripes.

 

Yeah, I had the same choices, but went with the LB/B combination. My favorite color has always been blue, but my cars have been silver. I like the way the sun plays with this metallic blue. They are both great colors, so you really can't go wrong with either one.

I'm not a huge fan of the white roof, although, out of all of the colors, I think the white looks best with the LB. I really like it actually, but just not for my own car. I just can't help but think it looks like a smurf (blue body, white hat)! Sorry to anyone who has this combo. No offense intended, I just can't get past the smurf thoughts.

 

I actually tend to agree with you. Not a white roof fan except on LB or to an extent AB. I mean just look at Chuck's MINI. You do not want to slap a black roof on that! LMAO, never thought of the smurfs, it's just not the best look IMO.

LB was my first choice when I started looking at the new Mini's. I really liked the LB when I saw it the first time. Then I decided that I would go with the CR/B as I always wanted a RED sports car. Then I starting to think... umm, would I get tired of red after a while? Was it just too flashy for me? I am not a real flashy guy but I did like the red....

Then I did a total 180 after I already ordered the MCS in CR/B. I stopped by a dealer in Orlando (while on vacation during xmas break) to check over the colors again and found a brand new DS/B that was getting shinned up to go inside in the showroom. I fell in love with that color. Very classy looking and looked great with black roof and black mirrors. I called my dealer in NC and changed my order. My DS/B MCS just finished production yesterday. I hope to have it in time for my bday on 2/5.... or shortly after.

I voted for the DS/B but all of the colors are great. Think about which color you can live with over the long haul... that is what I did.

Funny, I had the same decision: LB or DS. I went with DS and black roof. Black because I wanted the sunroof and I feel like the black "hides" it better. Just posted those pics in Gallery.

 

I'm having the same quandry to some extent. I'm going tomorrow to (hopefully) trade in my MC on an MCS. I have my sights set mainly on LaB/Black or MY/B, but I'm not ruling out DS/B, CR/B, or LiB/Black. My preference is LaB - it just pops and I've seen some really nice set ups. I like it a lot better with a black top than a white top too (no offense to anyone with the LaB/W!). I think the white looks great on the darker cars - NFR, LiB. I keep trying to get my partner to white out his NFR/NFR MC, but he doesn't want it to "stick out too much" (what?! why did you get a MINI?!?!).

Tough choices. I used to hate the way O2B looked on the config and in pictures, but the first time I saw one in person I thought "Wow, that's actually not too bad." Nothing looks bad on these cars, not even the pink a NAMer painted her car!

 

Those were my final choices, too. The color choice was the most difficult decision of the purchase. Followed by the roof color choice, which I totally bailed on and ordered as the same as the body color. It worked out perfectly for us. You will be happy with either LB or DS ... both will turn heads.

BTW, a roof color change after delivery will run about $1k (my fallback option that I do not have to pursue).

 

Well now that it seems both LB's have gotten thrown into the mix...

IMO Lightning Blue goes better with black, while Laser Blue goes better with white. I've also seen DS/W, but again, just IMHO, DS/B takes the win.

The great thing about MINI is all the OEM color combos are great! I haven't seen even one that looks bad to me. Granted some look better than others, but you really can't go wrong.

 

I'd say you can't go wrong with either of them... great choices. I would probabily go with laser blue.

Purely a matter of opium. But, I'd go with the blue. Or maybe the gray.

 

This is a very tough decision that I will someday have to make as well. The only variable I have to add is that I really like black cars (yes even though my name is slvermini ) Anywho, this car just seems like it needs color and I think the blue looks so good with the black roof...thats just my vote!! (for now anyway)

Very good advice. I went to the dealer on my lunch break and saw both colors. It was still a tough choice. Although I like the Laser Blue a lot, I think I'll be less likely to get tired of the Dark Silver, so that's what I'm going with. For others in this same situation, do yourself a favor and see both colors in person (side-by-side if possible). Pictures online (especially the configurator) don't do either color justice! Thanks for everyone's input!

For whatever reason, the Dark Silver does not look all that great in pictures and it looks really bad with the on-line config tool. It is almost like Mini didn't want anyone to pick the Dark Silver.

But, in person, IMHO, the Dark Silver looks awesome... and it looks a bit "meaner" that some of the other colors... which I like.

 

DS is an extremely attractive color. It has enough of that 'smoky bluish' color to it that I like. I do kinda wish MINI offered a more blue-gray color like one of the BMW colors I saw last time I was at my dealership. Though I guess a custom paint job could take care of any issues like that...shudder at the thought of what that would cost!

 

These two colors are exclusive of the MCS and also the colors I was contemplating. I went with Dark Silver with Black roof. Laser Blue was my second choice, I would go with white roof with that color.
