My bud just got his R56 Mini about a month ago (non Turbo) and he is loving the hell out of it...and I can see why.

The car is pepper white with a black roof and the "classic" bonnet stripes (rather than the "Shelby" style stripes). He is starting to look for ways to customize it and one thing that I suggested were red mirror caps.

What do you guys think, would this be dorky? Has anyone done this before?

Any opinions welcome.

 

Not exactly the same but an owner around here has a PW/PW with orange mirror caps. Looks pretty nice.

Can you order orange ones or did he paint them?

I was actually discussing something similar with another member not long ago, I'll try to find the thread. We were saying how sweet a PW/PW MINI would look with orange wheels, mirror caps and possibly subtle stripes. With PW/B however, I don't know. I always prefer to have only two colors in my exterior theme, but again that's just me.

It is me! I have a PW/PW R53 with Hot Orange Mirror Covers. I got mine from a fellow member who was trying to get rid of them, I am sure you could buy any color they make for the R56 or just get them painted. I am considering getting a set of wheels painted and if I do I will probably do the mirror covers at the same time and go to a non metalic orange. As for the only two color thoughts I am also considering some stripes like on the new Vipper with one really wide stripe then a much narrower one next to it, it would be done in a matte black if I did it, but I keep saying I will do stripes but they never seem to actually happen :(

 

That is pretty wild....have not seen that yet. I have a union jack rear view mirror cover for mine and the outside mirror caps on order to be shipped any day. Seems that PW's always end up with checker boards so thats why I decided on the Union Jack instead. Tough decisions when it comes to those things...so many choices.

Straying a bit from the the original topic, but I also considered those ^^ wheels for my PW/B MINI. A very good look, but they're just so heavy! Not exactly cheap either and I prefer to ditch the RF's. Ties in quite nicely with the color though.

 

Red mirror caps and red rotors would look pretty good together.
