Car-washing NYC edition!

Ok, so this may be a noob question for you guys, but I have a 3 week old AB/AB MCS with about 1150 miles. I havent gotten a car wash yet because live in NYC and cant find a touchless facility around here. Am I being crazy? I figured I should wait for a while because the build date was about 2 months ago - but I ski and the car really needs to be washed. Does anyone know of a good facility around these parts?

Thanks,

JB

I used to do electronic field service in and around NYC and almost any street corner you can get your windshield washed . The rest I would wait until I got out of the city to take care of.

There is an excellent car wash on the corner of 47th St. and West St (12th Ave).

They have a regular car was was but do super hand washing there too. Full detailing in and out. wax if desired... Leather conditioning etc. They regularly have Ferrari's, Lambos and Porches out there getting washed too. They have different pricing depending on what you want done..

Highly recommended!

Car Wash Update

Whoa, found the best car wash today in Brooklyn on Atlantic Ave (by atlantic center) - $8 handwash, no brushes, mitts only, and then they spend a ton of time drying. Check out the photo:

Oh no!...I have a jet black R53 and that was a big deal for me for a while. Now I found the best place where they hand wash, clean engine bay, inside the rims, everything. The space is amazing and its divided into three separate stage areas.
1. Water and soap (if previously waxed by them...they are very careful not to get rid of the protection).
2. Rinse area
3. Detail
4. Before you take your car they dry once again and use a air hose to get rid of any water left in the lights, spoiler ect...
Its amazing and they wash, Bentleys, BMW, Porsches.
I have developed a relationship with this place and they give me very nice rates. The first service experience I ever got was to get rid of swirls done to the car by an idiot in my parking that said he knew how to take care of the car BIG MISTAKE!!!. Luckily these guys got rid of the swirls and paint is back to new.
So the first full detail, (wax, full service in and out) set me back 200 dollars.
Wash can run you anywhere between 20 to 35 dollars. These guys are legit and wont charge you for a service not provided. In fact, I once thought they had re-waxed the car because it was really smooth and was about to pay full price once again, and the guys and owner told me they didn't have to do it so they charged me 30 dollars for services provided.
All said and done, its hard to find these type of services and attention to customers in NYC and I have now found the place.
**Big problem!...I do not remember the name of the place as I have never paid attention to it!!! oooopsss!...let me google it but it is in Williamsburg, brooklyn.
I will update you guys and if you need to remind me just send an email.
Good day all,
PS: Big storm tonight and tomorrow!

Fdavid,

Let me know when you remember, I am always looking for more shops. Next, I need to find someone to put on my stripes and tint the windows.

I know, I know, its going to snow tonight, but I have gone skiing twice and not had a chance to rinse the salt off yet.

Not sure where exactly is Atlantic Center. What's the cross street? Is it in Brooklyn Heights Atlantic Ave?

The Atlantic Center is where Flatbush and Atlantic ave intersect right by 5th ave. But I don't know where the car wash is...

The Atlantic ave carwash is on Atlantic and Vanderbilt in Ft. Greene (going east on Atlantic towards Bed-Stuy). I haven't been there, but I've heard that it's good. This summer, I was using the hand car wash on Smith & 9th - if you go when it's not busy, they'll let you use buckets (even though they have signs everywhere saying not to).

car wash

The name of the place was Suzie's car wash - 805 Atlantic Ave. I live in Carroll Gardens (close to Brooklyn Heights), and it was just a few minutes away. There are about 5000 car wash places out there, this one seemed to be the busiest (good sign).

Kimmic - where was the place you could do it yourself?

Thanks for the tip. It's not to far from the BQE. Might have to drop by if I'm on my way out to Long Island.

I can't tell from the pic but is there automated tracks involved as in a traditional car wash?

yeah, Smith and 9th ST in brooklyn is a good place to do-it-yourself. It's open 24 hours/day and lighted at night. Right under the subway bridge, across the street from the G/F stop entrance. They shut down when the temp goes below freezing. I like to go late at night so I can use buckets/mits.

The owner (tintmax.com) used to tint my previous car. I had a window smashed recently & i bought it out for him to tint. He opened up a new hand wash place out in Flushing, Queens a month ago.
I went there today for the tint & wash. They were extremely thorough in washing the car & cost was for 10$ exterior wash & $15 for exterior & interior. I'd highly recommend!

Here's the address:
170-14 39th Ave. Flushing, NY

Here's a thread on the place from a bmw site:
