R56 Introducing My 2008 Mellow Yellow/Black MCS
Introducing My 2008 Mellow Yellow/Black MCS
Hi NAM!
First of all, thanks to all on this forum who have provided so much information to help me make an intelligent buying decision. I learned a lot from you, and because of that got exactly what I wanted in my new 2008 Mini.
You also helped me deal with the waiting...which is the worst part.
After building the same car over and over again with the configurator I finally ordered on Nov 24th from New Country Mini in Hartford CT. I just missed the cutoff for ordering a 2007, so I went with a 2008. After about 5 weeks or so it was ready for pickup at my dealers on New Year's Eve.
Here's a pic from the showroom (still clean):

I live in New England, and since we're in the middle of a real snowy Winter the first thing I did when I got home was to swap the tires/wheels for some snow tires I bought from Tirerack.
Here's a few pics of my Mini in the snow:

I took it out in a snowstorm the day after I took delivery to see what it could do. It handles great with my Michelin Ice snowtires.

I got the Cold package with the optional Mellow Yellow snow plow:

Some forum members asked me for some interior shots. There's more in my gallery, but here's two quick ones (mellow yellow color line and piano black):

The door:

My Mini has the "auto-up" windows, but I don't have the USB (I didn't order the bluetooth package). The dealer couldn't install the iPod integration yet because they didn't didn't have the 2008 software flash yet...or so they said.
My options were Auto-trans, sunroof, Xenons, 16" wheels, cold package, MFSW, iPod, auto A/C, white turn signals, leatherette, Hi-Fi, front & rear fogs, extra key fob.
I drive 2 hours per day and this car has made my commute a joy!

Love it larrydata! Our MINIs were on the ship together and it's good to know Alsatia's cruising buddy is also home. Really like the yellow interior but even more I've got a call into my MA about that snowplow option! When I lived in Alaska I used to joke about putting a Meyer plow on the civic si.
Those wheels are really nice too. I'm still debating getting snow tires here in Philly. I just don't think enough snow stays on the ground but I am driving with the performance runflats right now so any amount of winter weather worries me.
Happy motoring and thanks for the pics.

LMAO at the snow plow pic, very cool.
Good choice on the MY/B exterior with MY color line and piano black interior. That's actually the combo I was originally going for. Glad to see you've already done your first mod with the actual size sticker.
