Damn. That's soooooo high. Has anyone tried installing them as a do-it-yourself?

$800 installed. I think the lights are like $500+ all by themselves. I think they really complete the look for a mini

OEM lights = $320 from Morristown MINI

Dealer install = $440

Total = you do the math.

Lots of folks have DIY'd them but it sounded like wayyyyyyy more than I wanted to bite off.

Do you mean $320 PLUS $440? I agree though, even though these suckers are expensive they add an incredible amount of style to the car. I'd like to know how much of a difference the regular headlights + driving lights on are versus just the Xenons. I would think the Xenons would still be quite superior, but the razzmatazz of the driving lights is spectacular.

You can only use driving lights in conjunction with the high beams.

We did it ourselves. A lot cheaper as long as you don't mess it up
We made a little tutorial:

And it is enough to make me not include them when I'm ready to order.

The config. text on miniUSA.com says:

"They work with the standard high beams and have a separate on/off switch for use at your discretion."

That sucks. Honestly I think the larger 500 Hellas look better. Particularly in yellow. I'm not sure where you can buy a complete set-up kit though...I don't think anywhere as of now. Sucks. But then again, the main point is that it just looks great, which is a bit sad on the surface, but...it looks soooooo great!

I'm thinking about just getting a set just for asthetic reasons. I agree love the look with them on the car. Just put them on the grill and not hook them up, just for looks. Seem's pointless to use em with highbeams only plus I have Xenon's and they are plenty bright. My 2C

$760 from Harrison Motorsports in Alpharetta, GA.
Plus they take the time to really show you the insides of your car if you want.

I have Xenon's and the OEM driving lights. I can't really tell much difference with the driving lights on or not. The Xenon's over power them. But I really like how they look on the car.

$ 750 for the driving lights and Euro shelf installed. I'd have to dig out the receipt to separate it out. I live in a rural area lots of critters around at night. The driving lights make it like daylight for a good distance in front of me. If your in the city I can see how they'd not look a lot brighter. I love them.

Yeah, $320... PLUS $440 for the install. Why would that surprise you when those posted ahead of me said a total of $800 and $944 ?

As far as aftermarket, it's a matter of taste but I think the big driving lights look goofy. Kind of like a 110 pound woman with D cups. Wait... on second thought...

Can anyone tell a large difference? If I go back and get them installed OEM, can I use them with my std. low beams?

My plan is to get these
http://www.rallylights.com/hella/700FF.asp

and the grill and bracket from
www.morristownmini.com

and use yellow bulbs as daytime running lights.

So that's like $150 plus incidentals.
They make different sizes.

I wanted the larger ones for that bugeye sprite of
yesteryear look.

And the yellow bulbs, everybody seems to have regular
DRLs now, I wanted to distinguish myself for safety, the
purpose of the DRLs.

Note this will be a self install, wired directly in,
to start up when the car starts, but with
an override off switch.

Going to the OP, they are about $900
at flow mini in NC, although they offered
me about $600 as a christmas special
last year.

But, I had already decided I want large yellow lights
that work with low beams by that time.

Had they offered $600 when I bought it, I probably would
have bought them then.

Hella 500s- $65/pair

Direct mounting to Grill- 45min

Wiring-30min

Bill myself at the dealer's $80/hr rate AND round up and my total would come to

$225

So I paid myself the $225 and got a pulley and an Engine Damper

Can you post up a how to on the
direct mount to the grill?

That would be handy.

where would that switch be located?
