Suspension in the market for a new suspension but i need assistance
in the market for a new suspension but i need assistance
this is for a daily driven 03 mcs with occasional spirited driving; no auto-x in mind. i'm looking mainly for a 1" drop and plan on adding a rear sway bar and front strut bar... that'll do it for my suspension upgrade. i don't think i'll need rear control arms, camber plates, etc.
i've searched around and came to a consensus: koni fsd or koni yellow (sport?) shocks coupled with m7, h-sport, or tein s-tech springs.
the question is- which combination of the aforementioned do i go with? i've read about spring rates, progressive/linear springs, etc but i'm still a bit dense on those areas. can you please help me out? gracias!

I think you should strongly consider rear control arms, there is a very strong chance you will need them after lowering your car. Even if you don't need them to fix the camber change from lowering, they will make your car handle better when your camber is set correctly, and your tires will last longer.
As for shocks/springs, I have been running m7 springs for most of the life of my 06, which is just under 20K miles. The stock shocks are starting to get a bit bouncier. I've ridden in a car with the h-sport/fsd combo and I'd say that it's much better ride quality than my car, and handles better too. The m7's are nice if you're not getting better shocks, but you will have to replace your shocks earlier. The drop on the m7's does look better.
I haven't seen too much feedback from people running koni yellows, there's just so many NAM'ers running the FSD combos or coilovers. Those that have chimed in have said they're great shocks, but it's hard to pick them over a coilover setup, considering the price of some of the coilover setups which may include camber plates.
So I guess it depends on how much you value the following:
ride height / looks
handling
adjustability
