I just received my shipment of my new white 16x7.5 kosei K1 Racing wheels and I just have to say what a poor paint job they to them. The paint was put on sooo thin I can see the darker metal undernear. Is this normal for these 15lbs light weight wheels to not receive much of a coat of paint?

All four wheels appear to be the same. That's why I was wondering if it was a painting issue across the board or if the paint was left thin intentionally for weight savings. I post pics of the wheels and tires in another thread soon.

Bear in mind, if you just dont "like the way they look" as long as you have not driven on them, I can take a return. Let me know

That's OK Alex, I've put 600 miles on them. Going to wash them as soon as the sun ducks behind the garage and check them out. I think the paint is intentionally applied thinly for weight savings. Can you confirm this Alex?

Red, check out this thread for pix. I'm going out to wash them soon and take some close-ups. In the other thread you can see the blue hue (this is where the metal or paint primer is showing thru the light coat of paint. If it's that way for weight savings I could care less, but if it is a defect, then I have a problem with it.

Oh, Alex, I reread what I wrote and it's a little misleading. I thought I had typed it in there or alluded to it, but I didn't.

The front faces of the wheels (part that you would view standing along side the car, is painted very well. See those photos. But anything that's not directly facing the side is questionalble. Like along the sides of the spokes (spoke faces are great) and then in the whole inner part of the wheel is painted very thinly to the point of primer or metal showing thru.

Thats actually very typical for the K1. Its spoke design is vey shary on the side of the spokes. this brings metal closer to the surface of the paint. Kosei typically does not paint the wheel as heavily inside the wheel, as its serving as a corrosion protection in that region of the wheel, and not cosmeticially.
