MINI Roof won't come down?

I just purchased a lovely mini 05 S convertable.
Today I tried to lower the roof but there is nothing. The light indicator does not light up. All my other windows go up and down but not the roof. I also checked the fusses (both interior left/and under hood) but all fusses seamed to be fine.

Any tips so that I can drive the mini over the holidays top down?

Thank you very much..

Mr. Z

Try checking the parcel shelf in the boot, make sure it's sitting tightly and flat. There is a sensor that the shelf sits on that will interrupt the roof up/down process if the parcel shelf is out of place. Here's where I got the information mini convertable issue Otherwise, you'll need to consult your dealer for diagnosis and it's probably not a DIY.

If your roof opens to the sunroof position but doesn't open further, it is probably the issue described by sahtt57. The parcel shelf interlock is a tiny switch on the left side that the shelf presses on when it is completely in place. You could also try releasing and relocking the "Easy Load" levers on either side of the tailgate opening. If the roof doesn't even open to sunroof position, you have something more serious.

About a month after I picked up my cabrio - a small piece of paper towel (either from from my son dropping it in the gap in the back seat, or from the wind) fell down in there and blocked a sensor. My top wouldn't do anything until I peeked in there w/ a flashlight and pulled it out.

Mr. Z, did you ever figured out why your roof didn't go down?

Hello,
I had to get the roof off the car and replace one of the hydrolic cilinders because I had a leak.....

I have a warranty till Oct. and wonder if I should take an extended warranty....at least I am covered through the summer.....

Take care..
