Just got mine on tuesday, installed yesterday. W - O-O- W! I love the sound of this thing. The whine and the suck/pop when you hit the gas is awesome. I think more power too... no, definetly more power.

Thanx Randy!

PS. One screw-up on Alta's otherwise well thought-out product is the metal pipe to which the filter attaches is too short, so the filter slips as you tighten the ring. I had to flare it out with a pair of pliers and then attatch the filter. Much better...

Motor On!

Same here I put mine on last week. The instruc say to degrease the lip of the filter. I did that and put a piece of electrical tape around the metal piece too.
But I agree it should be a little bigger for a better grip

The stripes you will see are the test ones and are plastic so they are not perfect and install them to have an idea how thw car will look.

I should be getting my ALTA intake tomorrow, it shipped from Randy's this Monday. I'm geeked to hear and feel the differences between it and my current Madness intake. Thanks for the heads-up on the filter tube needing extra help.

Cheers,
Ryan

So, what's the verdict on intakes. Hearing lots of good things about Mini-Madness and Alta. Any thoughts ??

Follow on to my question. I'm hearing that most of you who have upgraded your intakes have enjoyed the great sound produced by the SC. With the pulley reduction and the intake upgrade, is the higher engine noise acceptable for longer drives (ie: does it get annoying after a while?).

Spike, when you're cruising at steady-state (aka highway) you don't hear the supercharger whine or intake noise at all. This is because they are under very little load, and therefore don't make much sound.

I have the pulley, ECU, and Madness intake (right now), and highway cruising is identical to stock. ....but once you step on it...

Cheers,
Ryan

Hey Ryephile,

Thanks for your thoughts. One more question if I might. When I do get my Blue Screamer, I will definitely do the Pulley, ECU, and Intake, as you've done. What if any decrease in mileage have you noticed?

i am surprised you are getting the alta intake if you already have the madness. Let us know what the differences are when you install the alta.

Hey Ryan

So, have you had a chance to install the Alta CAI yet ? How does it compare with the Madness ?

Ryan,

Did you ever write up anything about this? Maybe it's in another thread?

Randy is coming here in late Oct. and I am trying to decide which intake Alta/Madness I will get. Thanks.

I also had the problem of the filter slipping off when tightening the clamp. Went over to the hardware store and bought a Degreaser (like the instructions said to) and then it went on fine.

I thought I could get away without it, then tired soap and water, and finally went and bought the degreaser! It works like they said it would.

I agree the sound is great and performance is better. $200 well spent.

Cheers!

Well, I guess I was negligent about updating this thread ).

One pointer is that you absolutly have to flare the metal tube connecting the filter and throttle body hose. Grab a pair of good pliers and just bend a crude flange into the tube all the way around it and you're good to go. Not doing this will cause the slippery filter and hose to slip off.

ORDER ONE TODAY
Cheers,
Ryan

Okay cool. I trust what you have to say. I asked Randy the same thing and I think I read somewhere that he was leaning towards the Alta also. Thanks for the info about installing also, but Randy is gonna do it so I trust he wont flub it up.

I'm glad you said it is much better than the Madness, because everything else I have read has been like "well it's kind of similar blahblah"

Thanks, and my MF from mftech are great too.

I think it's $200 everywhere that has it. $60 for a silicone tube which you don't need but I read something about how it will work well with a new throttle body.
