R50/53 MINI now advertising on TV
Interesting. I don't watch that much TV, but have NEVER seen a MINI commercial here in the Boston area, or anyplace else. I'd always wondered where the ads (which I've seen only online) ran.
I saw a advertisements on tv all the time last fall, around august and september... especially the Bulldog/Get Aquainted one....

I'm in Las Vegas. There were billboards around a good 2 months before the March 02 release, and there have been a number of newspaper ads. The thing we DO get here is a bunch of casinos giving away the current "hot" car, which at the moment is the MINI. I've seen at least 4 different casinos giving them away.
This week is the 1st time I've seen a tv ad, and I haven't yet heard a radio ad.

I'm in Soprano's land...saw an advertising spike back before the Italian Job opened. Haven't seen much since, but I mostly watch the Speed Channel at this point and Tivo through everything else...
i have never seen a mini ad on TV! though when driving on the I-95 there used to be tons of billboards. there are only two now. once i saw the bulldog commercial before a movie in a theater but i dont think that counts! i think they need new TV ads.. and they need to be played.
>>Last night, I saw the "Let's get acquainted" bulldog/MINI ad on tv.
>>Have sales started to slow down already?

I doubt it. MINI TV ads are nothing new. They had them last year. Ditto billboards on selected major cities (San Francisco, for one)

MINI ads have been running in certain markets for some time. But I have never seen them "over exposed" like some car adds you see every commercial break. Thank God as it keeps them a little fresher.
The adds have been around for quite some time... At least on miniusa.com... but I'm inclined to believe it's a dealer motivated thing... the only adverts in WNY have all been dealer made ones...

I saw a TV ad last night (while I was watching "24") for the new 2010 BMW X1.
I then realized that I've never seen a TV ad for any of the MINIs. I know Marketing 101 says that ad revenue is spent to urge consumers to buy models that are piling up in inventory; which is why you will rarely see ads for segment leaders such as Corvettes, Mustangs, WRXs, etc. since these models "sell themselves". Has anyone here ever seen a MINI ad? If so, what was it about?
Thanks

I've only seen one ad on TV (a cable channel), and it was a year or two ago.
Two neighbors each bought a new MINI.
One guy added some sort of cosmetic mod (don't remember what it was), and it started a "mod war" between the two guys. Cute ad!

I'd believe that since the ad that's frequently on cable around here is the same bulldog/R52 ad made in 2003. The problem is, there's no MINI dealership anywhere near here. The nearest one is in St. Louis which is a different cable market (and provider). Maybe one of the BMW dealerships around here is hoping to get a MINI franchise and is playing the ads now to generate interest.
Isn't it fascinating how this thread made a six-year seamless transition from 2003 to 2009?
That observation itself reveals something about the emphasis MINI USA has placed on TV advertising. With (until recently) demand always exceeding supply, it seems like they can't really be faulted for their historical advertising strategy.
I think we all just like to see videos of MINIs in action.

At least until this post.
