Since the day I began driving my car, I thought that I should have a second one. I will put way too many miles on it, 20,000+ per year. When I mentioned it to the "motoring advisor" at the dealership, he said don't worry about the miles, just buy a different one later. I can see now that I won't be driving my "old" car to save miles, I just won't.

Input please, I'm really torn!

I'm at 31000 and I wouldn't buy a new one just because of the high mileage. You're would just do the same thing to that one.

I would want two to distribute the mileage over the two cars, so that neither one has too many miles. Do you think that is silly of me?

Two MINI or not two MINI, that is the question,

Whether 'tis nobler to pursue the falling star, chase the pot 'o gold at the end of the rainbow with one faithful steed, or two?

Low a brace is more elegant still, for whilst I doth give chase to my fancy, having not one but two chargers will result in my greater glory.

Twins in more than mere words. Chargers at the ready, battle be joined.
Auto-X, roadtrip and the common commute.

Come rain or shine, we shall conquer all before us.

Go for it.

Go for it.

Mod one out to the max and keep one stock, then you can always do a real "side by side" comparison. That's what I've been doing with my wife's S and mine..(shhhh... don't tell her...)

When I'm done they will be the Ying and Yang of Minis

His, Chile RED all over, Madness intake, MINI-Motorsport Airbox Mod, Magnaflow Exhaust, BMP spark plug wires, RDR rear sway bar and Helix P/D 15% reduction pulley
.....possibly coming soon...H-sport springs, lighter wheels and 215s

Hers, EB UJ on top and BONE stock.

In a word.... yes. It's a car. It's meant to be driven--this means putting miles on it.

That said, if you've the means to buy an "extra" do you even have to ask the question "should I"? You can never have too much MINI!

My MCS is my daily driver, I thought that I'd try to drive my old car so as not to put more than 12,000 miles a year on the MINI but that's not going to happen. In two weeks I already have 1700+ miles on it and it's not going to get better. I traditionally put 20K a year on a car, plus with my MCS I plan on doing a bunch of these meets so I can meet some of you fine folk out there and have a blast driving.

Regardless of whether I have 1 or 2 MINI's, I'm the type to keep a car for years and put lots of miles on it. I don't see that changing. My old car ('92 Acura Integra with the V-tech engine) now has 180,000 miles on it, and needs some serious suspension work just for me to feel comfortable driving it on the highway.

I was thinking of what twOMINIs said, one with lots of performance mods, one stock.

Thinking of frugality and practicality are getting me down!!

Okay, if you're not going to drive your other car because you love your MCS so much (...perfectly normal and completely understandable, I say) then the other car is just going to sit there undriven and taking up space. So if you NEED to buy a second car for some reason...I mean, what else is worth buying? Do any other cars interest you in the least? Are there any other cars you care about? Perhaps not! So getting another MINI is your only option. My opinion....

That's it!! I don't want any other cars. I began to realize in '01 that I'd be needing a new car soon. But nothing looked interesting.....until I found MINI! I waited a year for the auto-dimming rearview mirror and don't even like it that much! Now that I have one, I'm going MINI-crazy!

A second car is useful thing, but there's nothing else I'd rather drive. I've thought of getting a small, used, late model SUV like a Honda CRV or a Toyota Rav4, boredom plus. But practical....for what, my parrots???

Still torn...but thanks for your input.

Since the MINIs are in such short supply, you really should let someone else motor that has never motored before. Just my 2p.

Actually, dominic, it would be used. I don't know how to do a thread link, but check out Marketplace, the 2003 MCS.

why do people buy cars then worry so much about mileage, I'll never understand this. It't not a ferrari or a classic car, its meant to be driven (ha I think I just accidentally busted on ferrarir). Ignore your mileage and go motor, now!
