Questions about body protection film on a JCW aero body kit

Getting ready to order a MY/B 2008 MCS with the JCW aero body kit, which I plan to protect with body protection film, e.g., Invisishield.

Which companies' body protection film would you suggest I consider (or avoid)?

What should I expect to pay for such protection (on a JCW aero body kit).

Should I have my Mini dealer install it (most likely from an outside source), or
should I use a firm that specializes in such work?

Lastly, who's likely to cost more, and who's likely to do a better job?

Thanks, in advance, for any advice you can share with me.

I got the same "ClearBra" type of thing on my car, I don't have the JCW aero kit. I just had it done at a local place that does that sort of stuff and tinting, because of course the dealer costs way more...I think my dealer wanted like $1500 and had it done for $600 for the same thing, just went to a different place.

or you can go the ebay route and install yourself!! thats what i did... it doesnt look perfect but it only cost 150... i think if i had another go at it i could definitely make it look really nice, since now i know what i am doing and have figured out a few tricks to make the film do what i want!

I have the clear bra installed and best money I have spent. I personally do not have the time to install myself, the cost-benefit factor is not enough so I ended up paying. Not sure if some of the installers have all the specs already to cut the film to fit the JCW... anyone care to comment...

i know on ebay you can find kits cut for the JCW kit so im more than confident that installers have those kits as well.... some installers actually dont use pre-cut kits and do all the stuff custom.

the dealers most likely just going to subcontract it out, better to skip the middleman for cost & responsibility. odds are you can contact the dealership parts department and order their pre-cut invisishield and install it yourself. plenty of DIY guides online.
you may even find a mini owner nearby who can help out

not sure if it's still the case or not, but some of the 3M stuff is notorious for yellowing.

I had Invisishield on my R53 and had no problems with it. I now have an R56 and am concerned about the heat from the turbo after a drive. Has anyone had any problems with heat from the turbo discoloring or even melting the Invisishield directly over it?
Thanks for your help!
-John

I have the JCW Aero kit installed and the clear bra on the hood and front end. The car is only 6 months old and so far there are no problems at all. I will never own another car without a clear bra. The stuff is amazing!

So, do you wax over the clear bra?

Check out a business http://autobahndint.com/home.html they are used by my local dealer and they get $595 but guarantee it for the life of the car. They do recommend waxing with a non-abrasive wax to bring out the shine. They call their product "Roadblock"
