How Can I Determine My ECU Version

Tried searching the forums to no avail. How can I determine my ECU version on my 07 MC? Special key press combo? I have nav if this makes a difference.

Thanks!

You probably can't without the BMW reprogramming software. Nav shouldn't have anything to do with the engine computer version. I would guess that there's close to 30 separate computers on the 07 MCS, such as Engine, Body Controls, Chassis, ABS, Climate, Audio, the list goes on and on ... Each computer will have a different version of software.

Just curious, why do you want to know the engine control unit version?

Cheers,
Jeff

jeffm5150 is correct. It needs to be connected to the BMW dealership's diagnostic/programming computer to find the ECU version number. At least this was true of the R50/R53 series.

My interest was knowing what rev level my car is at and what may be current. I'm always wary of getting a flash update unless there is a compelling reason. So I gather that the ECU has nothing to do with Nav or Bluetooth compatibility? I know that I have the 2007 V2 disc for the nav but I am not sure how the bluetooth part of the module gets updated. I'm just hoping for a higher level of compatibility. I also like to know all the geek details about my Mini!

According to the finance manager trying to sell me the extended warranty, there are 16 computers in the Mini.
