My car is still a virgin but the time has come, I want to get a higher performance air intake system for it. I've looked around here and noticed there are a couple of options. The alta got my attention been that it gives the most HP gain.
This will probably be the only modification I'll do, I'd love to do the exhaust too but I dont want the car to get loud. I know the intake system will increase noise level but it should be a nice groul that I can live with. I'd love to do the pulley and the ecu but I don't want to void my engine warranty. Is it true I can get a 7 HP gain from the alta system ?
Is there another system that'll do better ?
What air intake system should I get ?
Thanks for your imput.

Alta is the best of the currently available cold air induction systems. This is what Randy Webb told me, and I take his word for it as he is the Pope of the MINI Cooper world. (He gets his information from the MAN UPSTAIRS). Sounds like an excellent mod to me, and its probably the next one on my list.

Yes you can get 7 hp from an intake. I have had the Madness intake for nearly 25,000 miles now and love it. The alta wasn't out at the time, but if I were doing it now I would consider it.

If you want an exhuast that isn't loud, you could always get the Borla.

Welcome to MCO.

I have the RamAir system installed in my cooper, and it works great. I don't have any dyno info on it, but the power gained at higher rev is quiet noticeable (4000-5000 rpm). It comes with the adjustable cold air duct too so I guess it is good for the value of about $100 as I remember. (i always wanna buy the K&N, but it costs almost twice the money....well)
