POLL: LEATHERETTE OR CLOTH???

Hey everyone, im a newbie here and need to get your opinion on seating options. Im placing an order for a 08 MC and I cant decide between cloth or leatherette.
Leatherette seems more durable and looks classier but ive heard that it doesnt breathe well and they make you sweat like a pig. Any truth to this?
Also, how necessary of an option are the sport seats? Do they really make a huge difference in overall comfort????
Thanks for your input!
-Sean

How 'bout Leatherette with some nice Wet Okole covers? A good combination of economy, durability, and comfort for all seasons. Works for me.

Just in case you're interested:
http://www.wetokole.com/

Leatherette on its own is indeed somewhat lacking in it breath-ability.

(Edit: BTW, forgot to wish you luck on your order! You'll be assimilated into the MINI-borg soon!)

LEATHERETTE, easy to clean and it looks very nice. My friend who has the R53 with leather seats thought I got mine with leather seats. I like the perforated trim that it comes with on the sides. Very nice looking, it doesn't look like the pictures from MINIUSA.com at all. The pictures don't do it justice. I am glad I listened to my MA.

i don't know if the sport seats makes a difference compared to non sport seats. i think all MCS come with the sport seats. I like my seats, very supportive and still comfortable. My commute is about 1 hour each way to work.

Hi, I too am looking at getting one by the end of January. I am planning on going with leatherette. Seems easier to maintain clean IMO

I have leatherette. No regrets. I have read the cloth seats give you static shocks when getting out. Leather is nice when it's new but even if you take care of it, it stretches and become ugly after a couple of years or they crack after a while. Vinyl is tough. That's why I chose vinyl this time.
If leather was standard and vinyl was a paid option for $1000, I would have probably kept the leather. But I feel lucky that vinyl is free and leather is expensive.

I have letherette, and yes, you can have a little trouble with breathability in humid hot weather. I also have the butt warmer, and I absolutely LOVE that feature. Here the mornings are in the 30s right now, and I have a warm tush before I get out of my subdivision.

I actually love my cloth seats. Maybe I'm the only one :impatient

Not hot in the summer and so far not cold in the winter.

The sport seat option in my opinion is a must though.

Yes!

And another fan of cloth here. Anything else gets me sweating. I just got back from a ride with the seat heaters and they are worth every penny too!

I much prefer cloth over leather or leatherette myself, but am OCD on making sure it stays clean from accidental spills, etc so got the Wet Okole seat covers myself. Heck, my last vehicle had leather and I still ordered Wet Okole for them.

I have the Leatherette side panels and cloth center in my 07 MCS. This looks great with the benefit of cooler cloths centers. I also agree, that the seat heaters are a must for a long trip in cool to cold weather.

I was sold on the cloth seats until I went and sat in them both...

Leatherette won that battle easily... the seat heaters are great too (and I am always hot)

Leatherette... it is easy to clean up, which is a plus when you have kids!

I live in Florida and it gets pretty darn hot here, but I have never had a problem with leatherette seats and I have had them in all 3 of my cars (2 BMWs and 1 MINI)

I bought the cloth and like it. Keep in mind that the cloth seats are black while the leatherette is more gray than black. This was critical for me, because I wanted an all black interior.

Unlike leatherette, the cloth seats breathe and are thus more comfortable for warm weather driving, in my opinion. Also less slick and hold you in place better for spirited twisties driving. Heated seats with cloth are a sensual delight. I debated long over which seat covering and am happy that I chose the cloth.

I got the cloth seats, no regrets. I liked the look of the cloth better than all other seats except for the euro version of the Lounge Leather with piping. Leatherette would have been ok with me as well, but at the time you needed to get cloth to get the Gotham Grey interior, which is what I wanted more.

I think cloth seats hold a lot of odor over time. I hate the smell of used cars with the cloth seats and also the stains that are left behind.

Sports seats are worth it. They are comfortable.
Regarding leatherette, anybody seeing the seats think they are leather.
They do get a bit warm, but thats the only downfall.
I like them.

I was under the impression that the 07 MCS came with sport seats as standard?

I have leatherette on my 07' MCS and everyone thinks is leather. I had Leather on my BMW and Lexus and after a few years they begin to crack, and fade.
