Winter tire/rim set

I need to get a set of tires/rims for winter, but not quite sure what size rim to get.
I got a 07 MSC with sport package (17” rims).
I don’t want to go big, it’s for winter, the smaller the better, so I’m thinking something along the lines of 15”. But will those fit on a MSC with sport pack. or should I go with 16”? I don’t really care about the aesthetics, just that the set performs well when snow drops. Any recommendations?
Do you know of any decent tire/rim stores…I’m in Toronto, Mississauga to be exact.

thx
adrian

Check out the tire and wheel forum https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...splay.php?f=36

Tirerack is a good place to start, they can send you a completly mounted set of rims and tires. I am going to do soon myslef. One thing to note, if you have the updated TPMS (sensors on each wheel), this probably will need added to your winter set. This will add a little over $200 for a set of four. Tirerack does have them.

I'm using 16" with Michelin Pilot Alpin tires. As long as it's cool out, they stick to the road like glue. When it gets to 58 degrees or so they start to get a little greasy.

I just bought a set from Tirerack with continental winter run flats and 16 inch ASA JH6 wheels. About $1,000 delivered. Alex is very helpful - you can find his info in the tire and wheel forum.

If you're willing to go with non-runflats, you can get a cheaper set up. Alex told me they have a 15inch wheel that will fit the r56, but there's no runflat tire for it.

I'm in Waterloo ON and just got a set of Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 195/55HR16 on 16x6 Rial Flair wheels delivered from the Tire Rack. Total came to $1200, including duty, taxes & shipping - way cheaper than you'll find around here. Delivered in 7 days.

This is my second set of M3's... wicked tire - great in the snow and ice and great in the dry too (and you know we have a pretty even mix of the two up here). They're 16" and not run-flats, so I expect the ride won't be so bouncy (I have 17" Crown Spokes with Conti RFs on now) but should still be crisp. I'll let you know how it goes once I get them on.

I'll be putting those same tires on my S-winder wheels. Then, swap back to the original run flats to finish them off, then buy another set of wheels for something sticky and non-run-flatty. Glad to hear the Dunlop M3 is a great snow tire.
