Alta V2 IC and Intake review

Got a little more bling under my hood now!!

Installed both of these this weekend and have been excercising the little mini like crazy.

First off - the intake - what a bitchin sound. I really liked my DDM fine but I met Adam from Alta and after speaking to him, wanted to move to having Alta stuff under the hood - I was surprised by how different the sound it, its a great offset in tone from the exhaust. It even got a giggle from the wife!

The intercooler first off looks awesome. It was quite sad to see the stock one off - its really quite an ugly little thing! The V2 is a piece of art - I kinda felt bad stuffing it under the hood.

No miracle power gains from it - but it has done exactly what it was supposed to. The punch in the car stays there now. As everything under the hood heats up, the car gets far less sluggish now than it did before. Job Done. Thanks Alta.

so, power gains or no power gains?

I had no fitment issues with the actual intercooler - dropped in as instructed fine. I just had to clarify cutting of the hood scoop with Jeff. He explained that I do just go ahead and cut the engine liner to give a totally clean scoop line.

I didn't comment on the power as I think someone is lying if they say they can definitely feel an extra 8 HP. However, as stated I do feel the car is a lot more spritely, it feels like its constantly running in cool weather instead of getting the usual sluggishness it gets after running for a while out here in Cali

If the boys at Alta dyno'd it and got the stated results, I have experienced nothing that would make me argue that.

PGT: No dippled hoods! The biggest issue was clients (and I mean NO criticism to any affected) either didn't read the instructions, or didn't follow them, or tried to put it on an automatic. We adjusted the instructions (BIG BOLD PRINT) in certain areas etc. and things seem to be much better! Also, the gains are solid and repeatable. The HP is there as well as it STAYS there vs. the OEM unit that reaches heat soak pretty quickly. Thank you for asking for the clarification. I hope others that might have been concerned will read this reply as well.

Thanks again!

very funny
I have never taken the time to fully learn manual, plus, it is really hard driving the Mini in manual as I have a size 16 foot. When I went to buy my mini, I was deciding between stick and auto, until I sat in the stick, and realized that my foot hit the brake and gas at the same time. As it is I drive without my shoe on now because it gets caught sometimes on the back of the brake pedal when I lift my foot off the gas.
