"Must have" options?

I will be ordering my new MINI Convertible in the next few weeks and interested in what most people here consider as must have options.

What options do you have, would you get it again?

What options did you NOT get and wish you had?

IMO, all of them are must have (except chrome... I hate chrome!)... but I'm a sucker for gadgets, so I'm probably not the best person to give you feedback.

Let me just say that once you've had heated seats cars without them are horrible!

Suggest you re-post in the convertible forum. You'll get lots of input. The cold weather package (which includes the heated seats) is a must for the Cabrio. Most everything else has a lot to do with personal choice and preferences to me. If I had it to do over again, I'd definitely get xenons, as almost the entire year my morning commute is in the dark.

JCW, Sports Package, Chrono Package, iPod adapter about covers it for me.

I've owned an MGB since it was new in 1975, and never needed or wanted heated seats. Just don't get leather!

I felt the same way before I actually owned a car with heated seats, I scoffed at the notion actually, but once I had the experience of owning a car with it my opinion flipped completely - having my back nicely warmed and never having to wait for or even use the dry heated air is awesome IMHO

Have never regretted getting leather in a car either, but I don't nec consider that a must have (depends on the car and the choices) - in a 'vert I'd probably go for vinyl as long as it had the adjustable lumbar (another must now that I think of it, my back starts to hurt without it - guess that does make leather a must in the Mini..).

I also love me the xenons

+1 heated seats and xenons. I know you are getting the cabrio, but if it was a coupe, I'd say be sure to leave off the sunroof.

CLOTH SEATS. The Leatherette does not breath at all, which leads to some nasty cases of sweaty back syndrome.

But, if you want to get some Wet Okole seat covers, then go for the leatherette, because the cloth seats may retain moisture under the seat covers.

If I were buying a cabrio I'd probably get seat warmers so I could enjoy top-down all throught the mild Texas winters. I'd get cloth seats, too, but only because the Texas sun would make the seats hotter...if I were going to the beach or something I'd get leatherette. Aside from that, I do think the MFSW is handy and I've always enjoyed sport seats. That said, you could get a cabrio w/ no options at all....none....zip...nada...and still have a wonderful MINI. Bear that in mind...it's frightfully easy to option-up to a very pricey car.

I've driven cars with heated seats, and couldn't stand them. Made my back very uncomfortable. I generate more than enough heat all by myself!

Wow, never heard that esp when it gets chilly, the top is down and the heated air takes awhile. I hope your passengers all feel the same way To each/his her own of course, everyone has their 'must haves' - for a few hundred bucks as an a la carte item (at least it was) I figure you can't go wrong and probably helps the attractiveness of a 'vert upon resale, if that is a concern.

With the top down the heat will barely reach your hands. The heated seats are your only option for heat in the convertible.

Another must-have option? Wind screen.

+1 again - I don't have a 'vert either, but I love the seat heaters and I have a garage. On cool mornings, having the windows open slightly and sunroof popped, but the seat heat on low ==

I also love the xenons - when it comes time to get another car these will be "must haves" for me.

The only "absolute-must-have-why-the-hell-isn't-it-standard-like-on-every-other-$20K-car" option is the mutli-function steering wheel. Still annoys me that's it's an option. Even if you never use the cruise control you should get it. While the stupid online guides that everyone quotes doesn't give them much credit, trying to sell a car w/o it can be a PITA these days. Many buyers expect a car in this price range to have it.

(...now stand back as the thread is deluged with comments about how so-and-so had no trouble selling their non-MFSW equiped car... I don't really care... )

The CWP is nice to have in 'vert. We have it in ours and couldn't imagine the car without it, but for someone ordering a car in a warmer climate, I can understand skipping it.

Harmon/Kardon was the best thing I added to the car.

Xenons are the things I really wish I added.
