R50/53 Longest parade of MINIs NJ
Longest parade of MINIs NJ
Just in case you don't look at the "rallys and meets" section, we're trying to break the record for the longest parade of MINIs. I'm #191... we need 274!
Sunday, October 28th, 1030 am
Sponsored by MINI Prestige, northern NJ
Also collecting toys for a local Children's Hospital
Rally starts at High Point State Park in extreme northwestern NJ
I'm MINI # 191 as of yesterday.... Jeeze, we only need about 80 more MINIs to reach the magical 274 for the Longest Parade Of MINIs! A Guinnes Book Of World Records rep willl be there.

I'm sorry but #191 is taken. It's mine
Best of luck to you guys and actually you only need 273 Mini/MINI's to break the record. We had 273 there but one participant misplaced their keys and didn't go on the actual run so the record is 272.

I didn't think that the Thailand group actually beat the convoy record set in Virginia Beach. IIRC, they had something like 400+ MINIs in the same place at the same time, but they didn't go to the trouble of actually running a defined route with all of the cars.
I thought we had 274 show up but 273 on the convoy/run and that the unfortunate blue MCSc that lost their keys would have been #274.
Man I can remember the look on that guys face when we got back to the lot-he had his family and everything with him

As I can't be at Sunday's attempt, I have to hope they don't break the record.
I want to be a part of another record breaking run next year in Va. Beach! (Plus I need an excuse to drive down & use my GC from Conklin's)Jeff

From MINI2.com
MINI in Thailand held MINI Phenomenon 2007 and smashed the previous World Record for most Mini/MINIs in a convoy with an incredible 444 MINI/Minis joining together in celebration of their King.

Okay, okay, I'm 190-something... anyway, I'll be there. I just called Prestige and we are at 248 MINIs at this moment so hopefully more people will come through. Either way it'll be fun. I haven't seen this many MINIs together since MINIs On Top, Mt Washington, NH, in '06.
I see what we have to do...we have to make next years attempt a tribute to a King. That's why the Thailand people got such a great turnout!
So now we just need to find a worthy King to pay tribute to. (And PLEASE don't say Elvis)

PS. I'm willing to be King if no one else has a better suggestion.

Do you have a link in English, or perhaps a Guinness link showing the Thais as the current record holder? Everything I could find on the site you gave seems centered around spelling out "LONG LIVE THE KING" in a parking lot. Even the map that was published only showed the parking lot, and not any kind of "convoy" route.
If they have the record, that's fine, but "444 MINI/Minis joining together in celebration" does NOT necessarily equal "convoy". Planning and executing the route we took in Virginia Beach was an important part of the record we set. If we had just wanted to count MINIs in a parking lot, the poor guy that lost his keys would have counted, and we would have set the record with 274 cars and not 273.

MINI Thailand proudly presents MINI PHENOMENON 2007, a tribute to His Majesty the King. This event celebrates H.M. the King’s 80th Anniversary by creating a car mosaic of 444 MINI cars forming the words ‘LONG LIVE THE KING’. This feat breaks the Guinness Book world record in the category of car mosaics. This unforgettable experience takes place on September 22, 2007 at the headquarters of the 11th Infantry Regiment of the King’s Guard.
So, I think VA beach still hold the Guiness record.

I'll stand by the 272 number. In discusing the numbers with Simon, right after the GWR, this was the information that he passed on to me. He told me that there were 273 cars there, but only 272 went on the actual convoy.
We had 274 MINIs / Minis show up. Record was 269. One car was disqualified so we set it at 273. Now it is just getting all the paper work in and have Guinness validate the record.
Best regards Randy

Well, it looks like we didn't break the record, but it was a really fun day. Can someone post links to pictures in this thread? I'll start...
