Moritz MINI Dealer Complaint

In an effort to circumvent other owners from experiencing similar problems with Moritz MINI I wanted to express my dissatisfaction with the Arlington, Texas dealer. In searching the forum I have noticed many owners that were happy with the Moritz sales team.

Moritz received my Mini on 28 September 07 to replace an engine after water damage. To my dismay today 22 Oct 07, seventeen-business days later I am unfortunately, even now waiting to have the MINI repaired. Might I also add Moritz received the insurance check short my $500.00 deductible a week ago.

In the past 17 days Eric, the Mini Service Manager, has at times not returned calls, and also promised a completion date three times. Numerous messages and calls to Dave Leuke, Moritz MINI service manager, were also never returned. After speaking with Joe, the BMW service manger, last week he was concerned on the ticket time span when I called to confirm a promised completion date. After his research he apologized and stated Eric had ordered the engine and parts, yet never followed up with parts to confirm their arrival. Joe does seem truely interested and has promised a completion date this week. I could grant Moritz three days for paperwork between Moritz and Geico yet; I’m so perplexed and amazed by the lack of service and concern from the dealer.

Thank you for allowing me to express or vent my frustrations with the dealer.
Michael

I usually deal w/ Bryan...Eric is relatively new (nice guy though). I'd stay on it for sure (because obviously the ball got dropped), but overall Moritz is really quite good. They are definitely worth not writing off as they have provided some over-the-top great service to me over the years.

It is an incredibly complex operation to replace a complete engine. I am sure that they don't have an entire engine sitting intact on a shelf somewhere. Just be patient!

About two years ago, I had SIGNIFICANT damage done to my MINI when I ran over a median (long story). It was the better part of three+ weeks before I got it back and the bill was in excess of $7K. Sure I called them a lot, but I also understood that (a) I wasn't the only person in line and (b) that things like that just take time.

I have not had anything as big as an engine replaced, but have had other major work done. Eric has been wonderful with me and has always notified me if it would take longer and if there was something else wrong. Just wanted to put in a good plug for Eric and Moritz Arlington. I know they can have bad days too, they have always seemed to have good days when I deal with them.

I take delivery of my new Mini there tomorrow. This is a little troubling.

Moritz service has a really good reputation with our members. In fact both Dallas dealerships have great service reputations. I'd say the original post was an extremely rare situation and you can relax. Not sure of the circumstances but it appears the OPs engine replacement fell through the cracks. I'd be unhappy if it happened to me too. BUT both SAs - Eric and Bryan, take extremely good care of us, and Bryan is an MCS owner too!

Poor repair service from Moritz Mini & a lemon Mini

Hello Michael,

I feel your pain and unlimited amount of frustration.

My name is Mai Tran and I would like to make known the poor service we repeatedly received from Moritz Mini. It appears that Moritz Mini Service Division does not employ competent and qualified mechanics and personnel except for the sales team. This is not the first time that we had to repeatedly complain to get decent and satisfactory service from this dealer. We have had multiple problems with this vehicle even when it was still under warranty. For example, a few months ago the vehicle was brought in for a flat repair, the repair was not done properly and had caused another problem on the rim of the tire. The times before the flat repair the same issue of low quality repairs also occurred such as gasoline odor and fume blowing into the interior cabin because the mechanics did not do the job properly and accurately as expected. There are at least 3 other previous problems (such fuel filter problem and the car repeatedly died after numerous repairs) that we had the same frustrating experience of low quality service and poor repair. We now realize that we have purchased and owned a lemon from Mini.

I wish I could but I could not attach an invoice from Moritz Mini in Arlington for repairing a problem of our 2007 Mini Cooper S. The problem was not repaired and addressed to our satisfaction. The vehicle’s problem is that early in the morning when the engine is still cold it makes vibrating loud noise when the vehicle is accelerated or decelerated. The noise would go away after about 5-6 miles of driving. We brought it in for a repair on 12 Oct 2009. When my sister came to pick up the car on 16 Oct 2009 and paid a bill of the amount of $1214.81, the noise problem still persists. The explanation from Moritz Mini for the persisting noisy problem is the vehicle being operational as expected. On 12 Oct 2009 I picked up the loaner car early in the morning, the engine of the loaner car must be cold because the car still had collected dew on top of its roof and windshield glass, it did not make the noise as our vehicle does. I know people who have Mini Cooper vehicles, their cars do not make such noise when the engines are cold and first started in the morning. Additionally my question is if the noise is expected for vehicle’s normal operation then why did you make a repair and incurred a cost of several hundreds of dollars for us to pay?

I convinced my sister to purchase this vehicle because of the positive comments I had read about it on Internet and other publications. Now I think I need to post all the problems of our Mini Cooper vehicle that we have experienced to forewarn other consumers and potential customers from such customarily poor service and bad product like we have.

Thank you for allowing me to express or vent my frustrations with the dealer and a lemon product from Mini.

Moritz Mini Service Sucks

I have had so many bad service experiences I am now curious about the "lemon laws". I purchased the mini convertible the first year it came out (2005) and it has never worked consistantly since. Of course the dealer always tries to find a way out of paying for it or blaming you for it somehow. I have had my car there 5 times and 3 out of the 5 they actually returned the car back to me (always between 2 weeks and 2 months timeframe in which I have to call to check status - no one calls me) NOT fixed or with a NEW issue they created. Needless to say I am not pleased to say it is broke again and the a-hole service person challenges me on why i haven't brought it back immediately and when i say i'll bring it today he says oh we can't get you in until next week! Really people....don't purchase a car there because they will NOT take care of you. period. And Tony is a jerk.

Not sure what to think

I purchased a Mini at Moritz recently, and I have to say it's been a mixed bag. I think I have a bad 'motoring advisor' because the sales manager seems to be a bit more open to my issues.

I took the car off the lot late on a Saturday, so it couldn't be detailed. It was dark when I drove home, but the next morning I noticed that the car was filthy, which was fine, I was aware that the outside would be dirty, but the inside was too.

I took the car back on Monday and they very nicely gave me a loaner car to drive. But, I had an issue with the service desk trying to make the appointment and my MA didn't seem too nice.

I went to pick the car up on Tuesday and it looked worse than it did when I took it in. I think someone scraped the right rear fender. When I asked my MA if this was possible, again, she was not kind and said, "No," which is hard to believe. When I told her the car looked worse than when I brought it in, she said that was impossible, but believe me IT DID.

Again, they let me keep the loaner and are doing what they can to fix the problems, and the sales manager, Brian, was wonderful. I'm still not happy and now they say it will be Friday before I can have the car back. That they talked to BMW about scratches in the paint and what they have to do (I think someone buffed the car with a really rough pad).

If they aren't taking any better care of the cars, though, how can I be happy with this purchase? The service has been okay, except for the attitude from the MA. Just not sure what to think, or if I should accept the car at all.

All I can say is....I love my mini but have had to replace nearly everything at a very high cost from the dealer. Purchase an extended warranty for sure. And when possible get things done somewhere other than the dealer unless it is under warranty. Lonestar Bavarian Auto is a great place.

I am surprise to find all this comments about bad service from Moritz. I have been going to them since 2007 and I consistently received great service, first from Bryan that is no longer there and then Matt. They are such good people and treat me with respect, the repairs are always done properly and at the promised time frame.
They really do care about your car and their customers.

Dallas Mini isn't much better. Stopped in to ask about an oil change, and the Service writer looked at me like I was crazy, and was quite rude. I'll be taking my business to one of the local shops. I hate dealerships!

Like Sue, I'm very surprised. I haven't been to Moritz in a while - but Mini of Dallas has been VERY good to the local club members.

If you are a member of metroplexmini, MOD holds DIY days that are super. I don't know of any other dealership that has such a good relationship with it's local club.
