H&R R53 Springs on a R50

Hey guys from what I can tell these springs are the same for the MCS and the MC. I just bought a set from a fellow boardmember I am just confirming this.

H&R lists a different part number. However, there isn't a huge difference, but the spring rate and progression is engineered for the S. vs the Cooper. Expect the car to sit a bit higher and may be slightly less compliant ride.

I can call H&R for you on Monday and get more specifics if you like. Let me know!

excellent thank you for the quick replys. Adam, if you cancheck on that for me that would be wonderful. The only thing i could thinkof is that the front may sit slightly higher than stated since there isnt as much weight in the front of the cooper vs the s. If anything maybe a sslightly stiffer spring rate.

Was the shock base smaller or larger on the R53 than the R50. Maybe the R53 shocks will work on teh R50

There is something diferent about them. Check out helix, thye has some form of adapter thingie for the r56. If you put r56 trailing arms on, you need these as well, but im not sure exactly what it is off the top of my head.

Hey guys just letting you know I got the springs in and they installed without a hitch. Work great and provided the advertised drop.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread but I came accross this before I posted. What is the say on this. I have a r50 and of course it is much more common to find used r53 springs. Can I put them on my r50? H&R and others?

You can use them, but the car might sit a little bit higher depending on the mfr.

Our ALTA Springs fit both the R50, and R53 but the R50 is about .2 higher in the front.

Let me know if I can ever help!
