Can anyone tell me what modifications will not void the factory warranty and if having it installed at the dealership makes any difference. Thanks!!

 

The only mods that will keep warranty are the tuning packages you buy at the dealer, like the JCW kit or Dinan tuning I think.

 

There are no mods that will automatically void your entire warranty.

But, the MINI warranty won't cover any aftermarket parts, or any damage caused by aftermarket parts/mods.

As Nabeshin said, the only mods that are warranted by MINI are the JCW and Dinan pieces.

So..for example...if I put on lowering springs, the engine will still be fully covered?

 

Yes, that's correct. In fact, the lowering springs won't even void your suspension warranty, but if you do have a suspension problem (squeaks, rattles, uneven tire wear, etcetera), it might be hard to get them to see past the lowering springs to investigate other possibilities.
