How many tires are in your garage?

I just purchased 2 sets from TireRack, which brings my total count to thus:
  1. Hakkas (mounted) for Mini.
  2. F1 GS-D3s (unmounted) for Mini.
  3. RS-a's on the car, getting ready for recycling.
  4. Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds (unmounted) for BMW
  5. Avon M500s (mounted) for BMW
  6. Bizzak LM25s on car, getting ready for recycling.
  7. R1's (DOT R-comp, mounted) for Porsche
  8. Pilot Sports (mounted) for Ford (no longer own)
Not bad for a 2-car garage, with 2 cars in it.
(The Porsche and Z-car both live in different garages....)

So how many tires do you have stored in your garage?

Most I ever had was 2 sets for 2 of my own cars. So I'd have two unmounted sets in the garage. Now with the wife, I've only got one extra set for one of my cars.

Not shown; the set of steelies w/snows stacked in front of the car. That makes 12 in a one-car garage. Also another set for the Mazda 323 GTX sits in the carport and Blizzaks for it are in the shed.

jaykay11! Where do you keep all of those wheels and tires? Sounds like you're swimming in them!

My MINI has 3 sets of mounted tires.

1. F1 GS-D3s on 16" OZ Supperleggera wheels for daily driving (love 'em!).
2. Falken Azzinis on 16" 5 star wheels from my first Cooper for track and autocross.
3. Pirelli Winter carvers on 15" MINI rims (miniature S-Lites but wish they were holeys).

Wife just got a new Prius with no winter wheels just yet but we still have a set of mounted snows left over from her 2004 Rav4. They are availabe .

We own seven sets of wheels. One does not have tires right now but to make up for it, we have a set of unmounted Pirelli P-Zero Corsas just chillin in there.

I have several of the 'new arrivals' (from yesterday at least) sitting between the Mini and BMW in the garage (on top of the Hakkas)
The R-comps, M500s, and Pilot Sports are stacked next to the Recaro take-outs from the 944 infront of the BMW.

I'll post pics monday when I get some snaps over the weekend...

I have one mounted set of 15" Azenis for the MCS that are done for the summer. Both the MCS and the Cooper sport Kumho ASX a/s for the rest of the year. For REALLY BAD winter weather, I just bought a set of holeys, upon which I intend to put a set of dedicated snows...doubtful I'll EVER use them much, but they WILL fit either car.

I usually have two sets of wheels / tires sitting in my "garage". Since I live in an apartment and don't have a garage, they're actually in my apartment.

When I only had one MINI, it had three sets of wheels total: snow, summer / daily, and track.

Now, I have two MINIs. Still just one set of snows, 2 sets of daily / summer, and still juts one set of track wheels. Of course, one of my track wheels currently looks like this:

so that wheel either needs to be replaced, or a new set of track wheels needs to be found.

But, I'll still just have two sets of wheels sitting in the "garage".

Hmmm...THAT'S what ya get, when ya try squeezing one too many tires into an apartment!

Hmm... let's see:

Snows for the MCS
Snows for the TDI
OEM 15"s for the TDI (keep meaning to clean up and sell)
X-Lites w/ snows being stored for friends (hopefully will leave soon)
stack of extra wheels for a '73 Volvo
OE wheels and extra tires for a '79 Spitfire

The collection may expand as well... We eventually want a set of Panasports for the MCC, but will probably keep the OE 7-spokes... and I'm considering a set of Winter wheels/tires for my truck.

Just for the Mini...I have a Jeep Cherokee too

Of course there is the set on the car. Yoko's on Team Dynamics
Then we have...

Pirelli's on the BBS's - Street
Goodyears on the Minilites - Steet
Ex track Hankooks on the Rotas - Street till I need the wheels for the A048's
Kuhmos on the the others Rotas - Track
Worn Kuhmos with no wheels - Good for maybe another track weekend
I recently sold off 2 full sets that I realized I bought in a tire buying frenzy that would not be used with all the others around.

I didn't know there was a competition but now that you ask.

These are all for my one MINI. and naturally if I bought another MINI I wouldn't need to buy any wheels or tires.

1 set of Dunlop Runflats on R90 OEM 17" rims (show wheels)
1 set of Bridgestone Potenza S-03 pole positions on Centerline RPM 17x7" (soon to have new tires- daily driving and car shows)
1 set of Michelin Pilot Sport cups 205/50-15 on Holey 15" rims (track and lapping sessions)
1 set of Continental CH95 stock tires on Holey 15" rims (daily commuting- smooth ride)
1 set of Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R 195/50-15 on Kosei K1 TS 15x7 rims (autocross or track wet/rain tires)
1 set of Hoosier A6 225/45-15 on 949Racing 6UL 15x8 rims (competition autocross tires)
1 set of nearly new Continental CH95 stock tires unmounted (for back up on the commuting wheels)
1 set of Kumho V710 used 205/50-15 (just sold minutes ago) (used before the Hoosiers- very nice autocross tires)

1 set of Rota Slipstream 16x6.5 rims no tires (backup set for autocross or road use)
1 set of 949racing 6UL 15x8 rims no tires (backup set for track or autocross)

I used to have more but the garage police noticed too many tires and not enough floor space (actually no floor space and no space for any other car except for my MINI in a two car garage).

Actually I could get more but I don't have much more space, so for now I have to "suffer" with what I have.

But I do have 200 square feet of air conditioned storage locker space nearby. I can stack tires 12 high there. Hmmm... gives me an idea!

Here's one way of making good use of an "off-season" tire stack...well, at least 3/4's of it.

Well, now I dont feel so bad about having 4 sets of mounted tires, two sets of wheels, plus a scattering of single spare wheels and tires and inherited oddballs.

It's looking to increase once again next year.

As of today, 16.

Set of 4 Goodrich Traction TAs to replace the runflats on the PW Cooper.

Set of 4 Falken Ziex 912s just arrived to replace the runflats on the JB MCSC.

And the 8 tires installed on the Coopers parked in there.

The most I've ever had at one time was 10 sets of tires IIRC, and I am down a bit from that. I just brought two sets of race tires in the house for the winter a few days ago, but before that, the count was: 1. 215/40 Kumho V710's on SSR Comp wheels - Mini autocross tires 2. 205/50 Kumho V710's on stock 15" holeys - old Mini autocross tires 3. 195/55 Toyo T1R's on stock 15" holeys - Mini summer tires 4. 175/65 Conti A/S tires on stock 15" wheels - Mini winter tires 5. 195/55 Dunlop 8000's on 14x6 BBS wheels - Miata general use 6. 205/50 Azenis on 15x7 Enkei RPF1 wheels - Miata race and summer 7. 245/45 Kumho SPT on 17x8 Bullitt wheels - Mustang street use 8. 275/40 Kumho V710 on 17x8 Mustang wheels - Mustang autocross
