Interior/Exterior OutMotoring Gauge Faces + Push-start button panel
OutMotoring Gauge Faces + Push-start button panel
Woo hoo! I got the OutMotoring gauge faces in black with white lettering as well as the OEM push-start button panel.
Here are some pics of the process. A bit on the expensive side ($129 for the gauge faces, $260 for the panel) but hey, I like it.
With the STRI X-line gauges, I'm loving the retro look.
The push-start does require the use of the key (unlock steering wheel) but whilst it does add an extra step, it's pretty trick!

Thanks!
You have to remove the top of the dash to gain access to the three screws that hold in the airbag panel on the passenger side in order to release the center panel without risking snappage.
For the start-button I had to remove the bottom plastic cover for the steering column to tap into the wires (all plug and play). You also need to tap into a wire on the back of the speedo.

I did both at the same time and it took me about 2 hours or so. The tricky part is putting the needles back in and trying not to turn them in the process. There is a procedure to recalibrate that is not bad at all and Imagox's DIY was very helpful.

Thanks guys. Coopergear, I don't know if the panel is any different for the 05 (besides being three piece) but I believe the center panel should be ok.
Only thing is they only made them for the 02-04 I believe at least in terms of colors. But do not worry, all you have to do is to pop off the colored part (comes right off) from your old dash and transplant to the new.
Also this part isn't available for order anymore. I got mine from www.minspeed.net (old name www.myminiparts.com)
