Passed Emissions but failed Safety in NY

This is the first thing wrong with my MINI at almost 55000 miles. I can't be upset except that my MINI isn't perfect at the moment.

I failed the Safety inspection for having "Right Outer Tie Rod Play" on the front right wheel... I'm past the 50,000 mile warranty point so I guess I'll be paying for this one. While I'm there I'll have the 55,000 miles service completed too. Could be an expensive day.

Any thoughts on cost for a new Tie Rod (if needed?) Thanks!

I'll answer my own question... A right or left tie rod end is somewhere between $30.00 and $80.00 from what I found on the internet.
Hmmm, that means my dealer will likely charge $90 to $250.00 if the 300% markup is common with auto parts through the dealer... then there's the labor charges. Ugh.
