Will be visiting Hickory area next week for a house hunting journey and want some real NC BBQ. Not Sonny's, we have them here in Florida. So anyone know of a nice place to get some real tasty BBQ? Thanks

 

There is a place on 321N in Lenoir that's real. Just outside of Hickory across from the Checkers. The only barbecue restaurant I know of in the business part of Hickory is Firebonez, a more Texas-style barbecue place, but still very good. Plus, they have a Fried Oreo Sundae that is life-changing!

The place to go is Lexington, NC there are a dozen places or more their and haven't found a bad one yet, everytime I go to Grassroots Garage, we drop down to Lex for some BBQ. Dan knows where all the good places to eat are and he's a northern transplant, but knows how to eat southern.

I've been to the one in Nay's Mini's post (Denver, NC). It is VERY good!

I grew up in Gastonia and love R.O.'s BBQ (Its the slaw) Even get hamburger with BBQ slaw and its great!
