Last '07 order and '08 price increase...

Yo,

Wondering if anyone knows when the last '07 orders will be taken and what the base price difference will be on the '08 MCS?

Thanks
Mark

My MA said that around november will be the last time to order before 08 models begin production. As for the price increase, i would expect the base to go up, do to changing conversion rates as well as based on prior year price changes... Also, i would assume the options would fluctuate in price thats reflected in the 08 convertible pricing.

I would wait. When you sell the car, 08 will be a newer car than a 07.

well if you plan on selling it later on, then you MIGHT be better off waiting but no one knows for sure what the price increase will be. lets say 5 years down the road, how much more would the 08 sell over an 07?

I went back and forth. I finally ordered a 07 this week. I ordered a 35K+ Mini. I figured that if i waited for an 08 the cost increase would be 1 to 1.5K. The one year differance will mean little in 10 years that we keep the car for. Plus... we wanted it now... not in February.

Well, if the price increases on the 08 convertibles are any reflection of what's to come for the 08 hardtops, then you could be looking at a substantial increase depending upon how loaded up your MINI is with options.

When MINI USA accidentally messed up their online configurator (a couple of weeks ago) and set the hardtop pricing to the 08 convertible pricing, my current spec 07 Cooper S was exactly $1,000 more for the 08 model. At this point, no one really knows what will happen with the 08 hardtop pricing, but I'd be willing to bet good money that the price increases for the hardtops will be pretty much the same as for the convertibles.

Also, I was just at my MINI dealership today and they told me that the December production slots will be for the 08 models (which would arrive on the West coast in Jan or Feb). Thus, you've got about two months left to get in on an 07 production slot (and beat the price increases).

And... From best anyone can tell at this point, the late build 07 cars currently have ALL of the "new" features that the 08 models will be getting with exception of the USB port (which will only be included with the Bluetooth Prep option) and possibly an auto-up driver's side window. Of course, this could always change...

I did notice when I ordered my 07 last week, the cold weather package changed to include the power fold mirrors. That was a nice surprise.

Oh I can't wait till she gets here!

My Pacific Blue interior trim was free (was $200) but they did charge me for the Anthracite Head liner which I had read was now free.

There's a few others I'm sure... I noticed that there's now a speed/sensitivity adjustment (from Min to Max) for the auto-sensing wipers feature that's now controllable via the OBC. And, there's a new auto-wiper feature that's controllable by pushing in a small button on the very tip of the wiper control stalk. I'm not really quite sure what this one does yet since it isn't documented in the manual anywhere that I can find.

Hitting the end of the wand with non-auto wipers activates the intermittent function.

@jw34,

Thanks for the info, but what does it do on cars that have the rain-sensing auto wipers (like ours does)???

Just came from EB Mini - was in the area - stopped to touch and rub (Mine just made it through the Panama Canal and on its way to CA) Ask about the "USB" port - the only thing I found was an input jack port (round) no USB?? this was on an 07 they just got in....

Will do

Trouble is that we don't get much rain here in So CA. I'll have to test it out next time I wash the car. Ha ha!

all other countries are getting a USB port, i think along with the bluetooth prep. It appears that this is one of the few features that the late 07 models are NOT getting that may be on the 08s.

Pricing in the Bay Area

Greetings from Adelaide, South Australia. I'm planning to move back Stateside in January 2008 (California). Do California dealers still charge above MSRP or do some now only charge you MSRP for MINIs? How many months in California does one have to wait? I want to order mine in advance to the car arriving around my return to the US...

it depends on what dealer... what part of california will you be returning to?

Im not sure about the 08 models but as of now, the 07s can be had for MSRP, i think even on the lot. I would assume when the 08 comes out, on the lot models will be marked up but who knows for the ordered ones.

Cheers..
