Well...I dropped Betty off today for a new water pump. Turns out that a squealing that she was doing on and off was a "dry water pump seal".

Ok...dropped it off this morning. They have never done a Water pump on an 07 mini...and the computer tells them its a 3-5 hour job. Well i get a call at 4pm. "Sorry, it turns out that this is going to take us a bit longer than we expected. It seems the water pump is much harder to get at than we were lead to believe. We will need to keep it overnight, but we will pay for a rental"

Ok, im happy its getting fixed and a paid rental. Works for me. The rental guy was super busy. over an hour way before i was helped. He kept his cool, and put me in an '08 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab.

Holy @(#$!!! I felt VERY uncomfortable in that truck....Steering is **** poor...seats hurt my back....and is a dog. I can easily see how people drive these cars like retards...and how they feel overly safe on roads. SMall cars are REALLY SMALL!!!

Anyways, ill be much happier when Betty is back wrapped around me...

a 4 door pickup for a loaner? Thats extremely unusual even for a rental car much less a lonaer.

At least you did get a loaner.

That's a strange loaner.

What do you do for a living... maybe they thought you were a contractor or something...

Did they give you a gas allowance as well? That is a bit strange but I have seen where alot of dealers (not MINI in particular) team up with Enterprise or one of the major car rental places instead of using cars off the lot. I would suppose its cheaper for the that way? Hopefully they will have your Betty back soon

I was given a fully loaded Cadillac DeVille once as a loaner for my MINI. That was weird. Now the dealership has MINI loaners so I hope there's no risk of that happening again. Rental car companies are always trying to offer me "something bigger." I decline, of course...they just don't get it.

Let us know how the car runs after you pick it up. More than 5 hrs in the service bay would make me nervous.

Yeah...i didnt want to mention it...but it worries me that they have never done this operation before.

However i have done my fair share of repairs where i got in over my head. And everything worked out ok.

Im just a lowly engineer...nothing like the Real Estate Agents and Laywers that come through this dealership.

Yeah, same thing happened to us when we took in the 07 MY/B MINI for a new water pump. The dealer had the MINI for a week because it was the first one that they had done also. We drove it around for almost 3 weeks before they even figured out what was wrong with it, that's when I saw on NAM the water pump issue and told them to check that. At least your rental was better than mine...a hyundai sonata....

5 hours? I wish! Try 10 days getting a new transmission and missing out on taking my new MINI to MOTD because of it

When ordering my MCS, the dealership actually had me sign a form stating that I acknowledge that they don't have Mini or BMW loaners/rentals if the need arises due to service.

I thought it was weird, but I guess I'm fortunate since I've got a backup vehicle.
