Cabrio in AutoX?

Can the Cabrio participate in Auto-cross without an added roll cage?

I would love to auto-cross once in awhile, but don't want to mess with heavy mods.

You will have to check with the organizers of the individual autocross. Some do require it others don't.

I have autox my 06 MCC at BMWCCA and SCCA events without problems.

The only reason that you would need an aditional roll cage would be if you ran SCCA Solo1. That is a track type event.
