Exhaust system for '07 Cabrio (non-s)

Is there such a thing? I've checked other threads but they always seem to morph into products for the S.

There are very few. The ones I know of are the exhaust included with the JCW Sound Kit (I have this) and Milltek. I have heard of people using an exhaust for the hardtop Cooper and having it modified at a muffler shop to clear the cabrio underbrace.

Thanks for the comeback. Is the JCW sound kit available only from the dealer? Did your Mini come with the system or did you put it on after purchase?

I haven't seen anything specifically for the non-s but you could probably buy one for a coupe and modify it (what I did). It might be a PITA to do but its doable.

The JCW Sound Kit is a dealer installed option (not available from the factory). I had the dealer install it when my car arrived, before I took delivery (nice for having the cost folded in with the financing).

I probably should have done the same. I asked my MA and he frankly, wasn't up on exhaust systems. Probably should have followed up with the parts or service guy.

Do you have any idea if the JCW sound package is available from other retailers?

A retailer would have order the kit from MINI, and you would still have to do the ECU update at a dealer, so I don't see much advantage.

I'm not so interested in the ECU update as a more pleasing exhaust note. Ideally I could just buy the muffler. I believe I have seen other retailers advertising ths JCW system, but I could be mistaken. There usually is some variance in price between sellers and I hate having to pay more than is absolutely necessary.

I checked Milltek website and they do not show an application for the R52. Nor anybody else for that matter. Most discouraging in this consumer society of our.

BTW, I used to live in Sausalito. Wish I still did. Wish I still did with this Mini!

I have the Megan Racing exhaust on my '06 Non S Cabrio. The only thing I had to do was add a spacer where all the extra bracing bars come together towards read of car. My exhaust pipe was just resting on it and it caused a rattle. Now no problems at all. I love it. Since I hear there is no change in the Cabrio it should fit an '07 Cabrio.

Here's the thread on the Megan exhaust: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=61550
It's a very long thread -- suggest you jump to the last few pages for results and availability.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction. Quite a read! Not sure I'm ready for quite that volume but I'll have to find a few sound clips and see.

I also just installed the stainless steel Megan cat-back system on my MCC and it sounds great. It has a nice bassy european snarl like a MINI should. Not ricey at all. Has the sound that I was looking for (like the non-S's on the Italian Job). The price is right also. I bought mine new from an eBay store for $315. Installation was fairly straight forward but getting the stock system out was a pain due to all the extra bracing on a cabrio. I used ramps and it can be a bit tight under there. I can provide some time saving tips for anyone so inclined, just send me an email and I can save you from some of the grief I went through. There are NO instructions provided with the unit. If you are looking for a very reasonably priced quality aftermarket exhaust this is the one. Here is a nice little sound clip of the Megan on an MC posted by a fellow NAM member:
