From what I understand oil changes are covered also just abotu everything is covered except tires. Thats the way it is here in NC. I don't have a detailed list. I can let you know when I get back from the dealership today. I am ordering my car today!!!!!

If I recall the maintenance covers just about everything other than tires.

Some people don't believe the recommended schedule for oil changes is sufficient: 15,000 miles. I changed mine at around 2,000 after my break-in period, just for peace of mind. You'll find lots of arguments here on the necessity, or not, of more frequent changes than 15,000.

I drive about 6,000 miles per year, so I figure I will only get the manditory three yearly oil changes, and hopefully nothing else.

I believe tires and wheels aren't included in the maintenance, but everything else including a new clutch if you manage to smoke yours in under 36K miles.

NOT the clutch, be nice to your clutch, cause you will have to pay for that one

The MA said they would replace the clutch. I'm still being nice to it though.

My dealer also said they would replace clutch and Brake pads...as long as there was no signs of abuse.

I was told that they didn't cover front end alignments.
Anyone else hear that?

I've wondered about the clutch, given that some of the early R56s had various problems. I'm at 7600 miles with no problems, but mine IS a week 3 build, so the potential is there.

Any thoughts?

If your clutch has a problem noise or whatever that's not part of the normal wear and tear they should replace it under the 50K mile warranty. But if it just wears down normally in under 36K miles 'cause of bumper to bumper traffic every day or whatever they should replace it under the maintenance plan.

What a great statement by your MA, but let me ask, if a clutch gives out in less then 36,000 miles when they are built to last 100,000+ miles (I'm guessing here as I don't have my service info right now), don't you think they would say it was abused? I'm not saying I wouldn't fight (and most likely win) with a dealer if my clutch gave out on me early as I know I don't abuse it, but I wouldn't expect it to be easy, unfortunately

Brake pads I believe are covered.

For those who have their Mini's, all this info should be sitting in your car with the manual to be able to confirm, I know, I know, its not as fun to read though.

If it is due to manufacturing defects, it should be covered. Ironically, mine is sitting at the dear right now getting its clutch replaced due to the infamous "3-2 squeal". It is all being covered under warranty.

oil changes, "inspection 1" and "inspection 2" services as needed, brake fluid flushes (every 2 years), coolant flushes (interval depends on year and model), air filter (as needed), wiper blades, brake pads & brake rotors (once worn to minimum allowed), adjustments, and the clutch (once, if it is "worn" but not "abused") are covered.

tire balancing and alignments are covered for the first 2 months or 2,000 miles.

this is true.

alignment is covered for the first 2 months or 2000 miles, which is enough to cover any problems with how it came aligned from the factory. if it goes out of alignment after that, it's probably caused by road conditions, etc. and is not covered.

BMW had typically paid for one clutch under full maintenance, provided that it is worn but does not show any signs of abuse or being "burnt". Same should apply for MINI.

I agree, though... be careful with the clutch, there's no reason to have it replaced before 36000 miles, it should last over 100,000 miles if you drive properly unless it is a defective clutch.

I was under the impression that only one oil change per year was covered by MINI.

That's the minimum. It's whenever your service indicator counts down to zero OR one year, whichever comes first.

I think that is what he meant, not three every year as it might seem.
