Rubber boot on the rear suspension.

There is a rubber boot that fits over the control arm on my 06MCS that has fallen off. I asked the dealer to replace it when the car was in for another problem. Of course that's a part that's not stocked. I suggested they order it and send it to me so I don't have to make a 250 mile round trip to have it installed. Of course that never happens so I call and get the same story a couple more times but the last time the SA says they all fall off and it's no big deal. I would like to know if in fact it's no big deal. I would think if it was installed when the car was built, it must have been put there for a reason. Any one out there know about this?? Ther is one on both sides of the rear suspension and the one on the drivers side fell off. Is it needed or not???

from my experience ive had no damper failures from running without
boots on my road driven cars. for cars that see pebbles or unpaved
roads you will want to have them.

a bandaid fix is to get some duct tape and cover over your springs, which
will ulimately cover your bare shaft. and it lasts a long time...

TEIN has been notorious for boot splices on some of their units.
ive had 3 sets that tore on their own and i just removed them. never
had one fail on my previous cars.
