I was just wondering if the MINIs were going to try and team up and motor together. I know that last year they assembled in the school parking lot next door. Does such a plan exist this year as well?

The when and where might be good things to know. If a plan does NOT exist, should we make one?

I won't be able to join the ride on Saturday, but I do hope to see a lot of MINIs and Minis at the Conclave on Sunday. It was really a nice event last year.

 

Hi Japic. I'll be at the ride on Saturday and would like to motor with a group of other MINIs. Since it doesn't sound like anyone else has made plans on where to meet, do you want to be the "planner"?

The conclave drive says that they're leaving the park at 10 am Saturday the 15th. Lets plan on meeting in the school parking lot at W 64th Pl. and Oak St. between 10 and 10:30. We'll hang out for a little while allowing other MINIs to join in our caravan of MINIs (our MINIvan if you will).

As always we'll have our radios on and tuned to channel 7 sub 21. This is a little last minute; but hopefully folks will join in. I'll send a message to Rick and see about getting us onto the calendar, that might help a little.

The route we're taking is wherever the Conclave sends us. I have no idea how long that will take. See you Saturday!

 

Are you wanting to leave after the conclave ride begins? This is my first year going so I'm not familiar with how this all works. Thanks for getting us organized!

 

How long would you say the drive is?

 

Realistically This is my second year, so I can't exactly call myself an expert ont eh Conclave. What I can say is that the cars stream out of the park for a long time and folks can join in whenever they get going.

I'd appreciate any vetran's opinion or words here; I'm pretty much flying by the seat of my pants.

Unfortunately I can't really say. The route is (to my knowledge) top secret until you get your registration papers. They should include a map of where we're going and how long it will take. But this is only MY understanding.

I know that last year I couldn't do the whole run, but I followed the crowd of cars through town until I had to go (was on call for work). So if anyone is in a hurry, you can either drive ahead or leave the group.

Also, there's no saying that you even HAVE to roll with the other MINIs, but you'll find that for the most part, cars group together with like models. I think it's all about personal preference.

Hi. Nancy and I (Lloyd) have come up from New Mexico the last two years. We'll be camping a bit out in the Mountains Friday and come down for the drive Saturday morning. What time is 5280 gathering? Hopefully we'll be hanging with you on Sunday at the show and shine as well.

 

Well; I can't speak for the whole club but I plan to be to the park by 10, though I'll need to visit the registration tent, so I'm not sure how long it will be before I'm ready to roll.

As we do every year, the MINI and Mini group will be located at the FAR end of the Conclave in Oak Park, towards the back. Come see us - we usually have 30-50 cars there.

A good time had by all. As an aggressive, independent "wild man" I found it interesting how, very eary in the event, our wives had us properly leashed and doing it on the paper.
