I am thinking about lowering my MINI, and I would like to get a JCW aero kit, but I'm sure about the ground clearance with both. Does anyone have any pics of a lowered R56 with the JCW aero kit?

It's gonna look real cool. But I'd hate slowing way down for larger speed bumps and having to go over it at an angle.

Yeah, that's true. I'm thinking about taking those pieces that hang down under the front off. They just bolt on to the car, and I hope with them off and the car lowered, it won't hit anything.

Go to Outmotoring's web site. Aaron's newest project car photos are posted and has what you're looking for.

Mine measures 6 1/2 inches from the ground to the bottom of the front black piece. That piece underneath the bumper probably hangs down another inch or so. There's no way I'm lowering mine. I freak out every time I pull outta my driveway. It just barely clears it. If I do anything, I really want to make sure the front doesn't get any lower than it already is right now. Let us know if you do decide to get the JCW kit and lower it. I'd like to hear about any issues. Thanks.

R53 wheel wells are tighter than R56's. That's why it is easier to make R53 look cooler with less bottoming out worries.

I haven't seen the JCW kit in person, but in the pictures the rearend looks ugly. Does anyone else agree? I like the Out Motoring compromise with just the skirts. I think you have to look real hard to see the difference in the front ends when the trim is painted. Should be able to do it a lot cheaper too.

I think the rear looks fine. Looks much better with the rear diffuser painted black:

Sorry, when the text is formatted on my screen, it cuts at "painted". "Black" is below the pics. My fault.

I have a friend with the carbon diffuser, and it is truly wicked. Its is god-awfully expensive...

This looks awesome!! Do you have any problems with it dragging on the ground or anything? This is the same set up that I am thinking about.

From the MotoringFile review of the JCW Suspension:

'One thing to watch out for with the suspension kit is ride height. While 1 cm doesn’t sound like much of a drop, it’s enough make the car bottom out on a daily basis. This is specifically the case with those who have the JCW Aero-kit. While the kit lowers the ground clearance on both the front and side of the car, it’s the front air-deflectors that take the majority of the impacts. In fact I’ve taken enough of them that my driver-side deflector finally gave up somewhere on Sheridan Rd. just north of Chicago last week. Luckily replacements are all of $9.'
