Cryogenic Treating of rotors worth the $$$?

Hey all, I have been wondering if this is worth doing on some new brakes I am considering to get and want your opinions. TIA

If you don't know what I am talking about, here is a link.

If you go to the track, otherwise not necessary for the street.

I got the cryo powerslot rotors when I changed my brake pads to Hawk HPS ones
about 10,000 miles ago.
I'll let you know about the wear characteristics in another 10-20K, but so
far they seem to be wearing more slowly than the stock ones.

Sorry to dig up an old old thread, but was wondering now that its most definitely been some time since you purchased those rotors if you believed that cryo treatment was actually worth it or not!

I'm going to measure the discs in a week or two when I change to summer tires.
I have the Hawk HPS pads with stock VW rotors on my wife's car, and I can tell
you that those pads are very nice on rotors - the pads are down to about 6 mm
pad (not including backing), and the rotors have only lost 0.3 mm of thickness.
I'm sure I'll see a similar if not better pattern with the cryo/HPS combo on my MINI.

It would be more telling to run stock pads with the cryo discs to see if they actually wear
more slowly. Stock pads wear the stock rotors about 1/2 way to the wear limit by the time
the pads are ready for replacement.

I had the Powerslot Cryo Rotors on my last car but, I never got to burn through a set before I got rid of the car. I would love to hear how long they last but I am pretty sure you can get twice the life out of them then say the regular ones like I have. Also as an interesting tid bit, the cyro rotors are lighter in overall color then the none cyro rotors. Just saying.

Here's some data - I was able to measure the back discs through the holes in my winter holies.
I'm now at about 63,000 miles and had the oem's on first, then the HPS/cryo combo next.

OEM pads, OEM discs at 21,000 miles left about 6 mm on the pads and disc wore 0.78 mm (from 10 to 9.22).
Hawk HPS and Powerslot Cryo discs for the next 42,000 miles left about 6 mm on the pads and the disc wore
only 0.4 mm (to 9.60).

So the HPS on cryo seems to have pads lasting twice as long and rotor discs lasting 4x as long compared to OEM.

Just looked at the front discs since I just changed to my summer tires/wheels.
After 42,000 miles on the Powerslot Cryo with HPS pads, the discs are at
21.84 and 21.79 mm (down 0.2 mm from 22 mm new) compared to my old oem rotors
(yep, they're still sitting on a shelf in the basement still, just waiting to be measured)
which went down 1. 6mm to the wear limit of 20.4 in only 22K with oem pads.
The HPS front pads are down to 5 - 5.5 mm of pad material left.

Agreed on wear, I use cryo rotors myself.
