Cruise control failure

My '02 MCS has had cruise control failure since about 8k--four brake switch replacements did dot solve the problem. Activating switch just gets double blink. Tech says it is feedback from regularly used accessory but doesn't know which/how to fix. Dealer says to drive 225 miles to see him and MAYBE he can fix. Sure would appreciate any suggestions from those who have had same difficulty.

They just fixed my 03 MCS cruise control, they replaced the brake lite switch a month ago, this time they replaced the steering angle sensor! I'm not sure this is a DIY operation tho, the repair order mentions reprogramming the sensor............

I've got no complaints, cause they didn't charge me even tho I'm well out of warranty on time, but I wasn't sure what the connection was. At any rate, it works again now - although no better than before. (Mine gains speed on long runs on flat roads, loses 2 -3 mph on uphills, sometimes as much as a 5 -6 mph swing from the original setting)
