What You Don't Like About Your MINI...

It seems like everyone here is a big fan of their MC, but what do you NOT love so much about your Mini? I don't mean to start trouble . . . but I'm curious as what owners don't favor about their Mini's.

This maybe helpful if someone replies with a suggestions that will correct someone else's issue.

(I've tried doing a search)

I am actually NOT a fan of the huge center speedo. However, I switched out my dial faces recently and now it looks cool so I love it

I'm also not a fan of the monster cupholder, but what are you gonna do? Gotta have somewhere to put the Slurpee!

I love the car except for:

no opaque screen option for the sunroof

visors too short...I find them dangerous if you are driving into the sun

puny cup holders below the toggles......and both of the aftermarket cupholder they provide are too intrusive

The black mesh front and rear grillework on the `07 MCS is hideous. Seems like MINI really cheaped out on it..

We ordered ours with the OEM armrest - I HATE it.. I find it completely irritating...and of little or no use..

I found an annoying rattle coming from the overhead center console and I haven't messed with it yet, but I totally want to fix it, has anyone else out there had this same issue?

+1 on this one from me. I accidentally open the armrest with my elbow all the time.

I think I'll be looking for an aftermarket replacement for it.

Really don't like the armrest
Wish the screen for the sunroof was solid instead of mesh.
Sun visors aren't wide enough to cover the corners.
Don't like the armrest (oh, already listed that )

Center ***** for radio..cheap feeling and looking, seated heats...hottest setting is first??. Adjustable seat belt would be appreciated. Love the MINI....can't get enough!

the service at a lot of dealers kind of sucks. the back bumper cracks if you breathe on it wrong. other than that, i have no complaints. I can't see myself owning any other car.

Add me to the "sunvisors" list.

The seatback feels really flat and hard, and the contour that should be lumbar support (I'm not even talking about the adjustable support that comes with the leather seats, and which I never use) is too high up, hitting me in the kidneys. Cranking the extra "lumbar support" out further just makes it worse. It's like the bar on a sofa-bed. It's extremely uncomfortable and annoying at times. These are the R53 seats; don't know if the R56 seats have these issues. I hope they fixed them.

We hate...

The fact that we haven't figured out a comfortable way of sleeping in them, so we never ever have to leave them.

WE LOVE OUR MINIS!

My doors can't be opened without them bouncing off the stops and coming back at me. Can't tell you how many shoe marks on the lower panel (from stopping it with my foot) and monster bruises on my shin (when I miss).

Anybody else have this issue or do my doors need an adjustment...

Hmmmmm.....5 years into the new MINI community what I don't like has nothing to do with my MINI...it's that many newbies don't realize we are a community, and that they don't wave or acknowledge others in MINIs. Sorry, that's all I've got.

Oh yeah, that. My door is always bouncing back at me. And on that subject, it would be nice if the first "stop" was a little more open. There are times when I'm parked next to another car where I'd like the door to be propped open a little more, but there isn't room for it to be all the way out.

ouch

+1 for the doors always smacking me in my shins, I mean just how heavy are these doors.
Another thing that really bothers me about the car is that it seems like the rearview mirror is right in my face and that really restricts my frontal view.
One other thing that I don't like is that the headrest goes up way to high and I'm 6 feet tall, it just is in my view, I always look over my shoulder into my blindspot and it bothers me.

The sun visors in general.
Paint chips
Weird engine and suspension noises (the worst)
Mushrooming
Sharp plastic on the interior that i seem to keep scarring myself on.

I rather like the armrest though.

Mine has the annoying rattle. Apparently it's quite common in the 04's and 05's? There are quite a few threads about it if you do a search. It drives me nuts too .. .. but saying that, since buying it, I have not driven the FTO. I've just been starting it every few days.

I can live with the howling. I can live with my right calf and shin sweating, from resting against the plastic.

But what I don't like about my Mini is what it's in Germany and I'm in Romania. That's killing me. November can't arrive soon enough.

The oil filter. Location sucks, and I wish it was a spin on cannister type.

It's too small ... (I'm kidding!)

Hmm, that I can't keep it clean enough or keep my darned hands off it.

The shin on the plastic thing, the sunvisor thing (though the '06 extender is better), the occasionally jerky throttle thing (it can be almost "too" responsive), traction control when I hit 2nd too hard, that's about it...

Cupholders, Armrest and visors...

Oh - and the mesh cover on the sunroof...

I removed the front cupholder - it was in the way of the radio buttons, aside from being flimsy and just poorly designed (obviously an afterthought...).

The center armrest drives me nuts - it doesn't open or close properly and it's just plain cheap.

The visors are not wide enough to provide good coverage.

The sunroof... I *LOVE* my sunroof... But I *HATE* the mesh cover - I'm looking for a good aftermarket solid screen that I don't have to fumble with to open/close...

Other than that... I love my MINI... I'm doing a slow and careful set of mods, just to make it even better...

Two things:

1. Rattles
2. OEM center arm rest.
