AMVIV 2008
AMVIV 2008
The date is set for AMVIV (A Mini Vacation In Vegas). It is March 27-30th at Palace Station. Is anyone interested/planning to go? We (Angie and I) will definitely be going with our Mini. There has been some talk of getting a group of Minis together and renting a transport (I drive commercial vehicles for work) to get them there. You can accompany your Mini in a "chase" car, or fly down and meet it there.
This is a huge event that attracts people from all over the country. Plus-it's VEGAS Baby!!! As for space on the car hauler, it is probably limited to 12 Minis and the cost of renting it would be split amoung those who use it. Anyone interested?????? Space at the Palace Station sells out fast, so it's not to early to plan.

Guys, you will LOVE this event. The Sin City GRoup is great and would realyl welcome the added attendees. The banquet it kool, the city is kool etc., the drives are incredible, but HUGE bonus your wonderful friends at ALTA will be there! Also, the drive down isn't bad on the car, if you use the blue tape front options.
I actually thought the drive down was better than last years event. Hope you can get some friends to go down with you, otherwise you might be disappointed.
I concur with Adam about the drive down. It only took me 12 hours to get there and the drive was a blast.

So I take it you are not going this time? We are going regardless of who else may join, although it would be nice to go as a group.
If you want more info I could PM you.
Suffice it to say that unless you go down with your own friends, you will probably be dissapointed.
I hope we can make it. We're pretty close to a definite, but we need to hammer the details out soon.
Hard to believe it's already just 6 months away

Hopefully you two can make it. It's going to be a great time!
As of right now, I plan on driving to Vegas. I will probably leave the Portland area on the 25th or 26th and take my time getting down there, although I am flexible. Is there a departure date that everyone had in mind?
.
Scott, It would be great if you could make it! I think having a bunch of us together could make for a great weekend.
That was the biggest disappointment with last years. Felt like I was at the little kids table during Thanksgiving. Everyone else there seemed to be part of a club or group and they tended to be very busy with each other.
I know what you mean.
This is really a group friendly event (I can't even imagine it as a solo participant)... if you guys don't have big numbers, hang out with us. I think we had around 25-30 cars there last year (one of the largest groups present). If I knew Scott was there, we would have welcomed him into our activities.
We usually have 2-3 groups headed that way departing on different days. It will be our 4th year, and I have to recommend that you go as early as possible. We now usually make an (almost) week of it because its such a horribly ugly drive (from Sacramento south) no matter what way you go... have to justify the ugly drive with more days vacationing.
But if your group is driving down, you can possibly pick up a group from the Sacramento area or the Central Valley to drive down with.

Scott, you are signed up on our BBS... you should visit it occassionally. We have not yet started a discussion thread on AMVIV5 but I am sure there will be a very active one starting in about a month...
We were the ones that had a tent on the top floor of the parking garage, and during the evenings had a big screen tv there playing run movies as well as both of the Italian Job movies.
Anyway, like I said, if your group ends up small, whoever that does make it down should feel free to join up with us, either driving or hanging out once there.

Ok PDX Mini peeps (and anyone else for that matter), rooms are filling up quick at Palace Station. There is a 48hr cancellation policy, so if you are even considering going, now is definitely the time to call and book it. You can always cancel it if necessary, but can't book once these rooms are gone.
You need to call Palace Station at 800-634-3101. I spoke with Tyrone who claims "those Mini Coops are cool, man". Anyway, the discount code is PCIMVIV. It will get you a tower room at $129/night plus tax or a courtyard room at $89/night plus tax for the length of your stay (same rate weekday/weekend). We chose the tower because it overlooks the lot where your car will be parked, and it was recently remodeled.
I made our reservation for the 26th-30th of March (Leave Wed am, return Sun). That will get us there a day before everything starts, so we can relax, party, get married (again), get Bronson drunk, or whatever. So, lets get this thing going!!!! It's going to be great time
