Newbie with a car on his way

Hi all - I posted over in 1st Gear too, but thought I'd say "hi" to the cabrio crowd too.

I ordered my Chili Red MCSc on August 1, and it's been at the port for a few days - hopefully it'll be on a ship soon (if it's not already)!

I'm super excited to get some top-down driving in before the temperatures drom here in Minnesota (but then, that's what the cold-weather package and a hat are for...).

Congrats on the new (almost here) MINI! You will love the MINI driving fun as well as the open motoring.

And let me also welcome you to NAM. One rule you MUST remember: when your MINI gets here, you have to post pics.

Best advice for your new Cabrio, get a windblocker, it will greatly extend your topless season. There is no better option for a ragtop!

Welcome to NAM!! Your going to love your new Cabrio and soon you'll be motoring about the twin cities with a big grin on your face. I grew up in St. Paul and didn't realize you could survive with out cold and snow untill I went in the Navy when I was 18. I now live in central Ga. and snow is a distance memory. Hope you have many trouble free miles with your new ride.

Who would ever go of their way to get a Chili Pepper Red Vert?

Hopefully you'll be cruising soon

Thanks all - I definitely know I'll be pleased with the vert - this is my third one!

I started off with a VW Cabrio, which I completely loved, and am now finishing up a lease on a New Beetle convertible that I'm....less than pleased with! Lots of electrical problems.

So, I'm upgrading to the Mini (first purchased car instead of a lease, too) and am totally excited.

I haven't had the windblockers in either of the verts so far, but maybe I'll give it a try this time. Usually I just crank up the heated seats when it gets cool.

JoeyC - nice color choice! My personal preference is fun car-fun color. The NBC I'm returning next month is orange.

It's here! We picked up the new guy on Saturday, and the Minneapolis weather was nice enough to offer some top-down temperatures over the weekend. First impressions - it's so nice to have some power after the Beetle! Here's a link to my flickr set, and a few pics below. http://www.flickr.com/photos/a2z_mpl...7602050180069/

So are you keeping the VDub, or are your plans set to sell it?

Glad you got some top down weather

The Beetle was a lease, so it's going back in a week or so. I got tired of bringing it into the shop every other month to have a burnt out bulb replaced. But we bought the Mini!

Enjoy. Just don't let the melting snow on the heated passenger seat short it out :P
