No, but it actually works and doesn't fall apart in spite of how it feels. I've had them work for years.

17" RC rims center cap. I have the black plastic tool. I heard that Tire Rack sales a better tool but I went to the web site and could not find it. Hey Tire Rack you reading this? If so, how do I order the BBS tool.

I have the same tool for my RC center cap (non-Mini). Not the greatest, but how tight are you trying to get the center caps to? I tighten them just enough that I can't hand-loosen them.

Its not me making them to tight. It is the tire store. Mpath, is your tool a black rectangle? If so over time the plastic gives way.

Thanks,

Michael

If you know the tire shop puts the center caps on too tight, why do you let them put them on at all? They're just decorative. WHy not pull them off before you go to the tire shop and put them on yourself when you get home?

Mine is actually gray. I bought it from BBS NA, for around 30 bucks. It was RC-specific.

mpath, do you mind letting me know what the part number on it is? I am curious if it is a different part number than mine or if they replaced the tool with something that works

Sure, I'll check in the morning as it's in my trunk. In the meantime, you may want to give Wheel Special a call, and ask for Jim @ 480 968-1314.

Hi Folks,
I would be THRILLED to find something to replace the model 89.10.025 center cap removal tool! I am not about to order my THIRD one from the Tire Rack. Just amazed that someone (aftermarket other than BBS) hasn't made a better "mousetrap" and developed a better center cap removal tool (I have BBS RC wheels... no longer made, I don't think).

Found it- an improved BBS tool from BBS Japan... this is for BBS RC wheels (and I believe RS also) with the knurled center cap. It replaces the old flimsy BBS 89.10.05 that looked like a sunglass case (and worked about as well).

I just ordered mine from Sander Performance Group in New Jersey-- ask for "Lucile" (she's a stockholder and has been selling BBS since 1984). You can reach Sander at (800) 227-6965 <Mon-Fri 8-5 EST> www.sanderperformance.com

Looking forward to getting the new, improved tool!

I just emailed her. Anyone want a "group buy". SoCal Tom how much was it? I could see if anyone from SCMM wants one as well since I am in So cal as well.

I emailed Sander yesterday, but didn't hear back. Called them today and got Lucille who answered the phone and took my order. The BBS tool from Japan (new one, BBS 59.23.009) was $20 plus $7 shipping. Think that is similar to the price for the old one (89.10.025) that looked like a sunglass case.

Here's a pic of "Austin" our beloved former MINI Cooper S:

(picture at the shop where most of the upgrade work was done; when finished I got to drive it at Willow Springs and got the picture on April 2003 cover of Eurotune... my 15 seconds of fame)

Cheers,
Tom
