I am a touch confused. On another thread here someone said a 6.5 second 0-60 is not possible (or perhaps realistic).

The MC has 118 HP 0-60 in 8.5 seconds
MC-S has 172 HP 0-60 in 6.7 seconds

The JCW tuning kit makes it 207 HP - but no where do they mention 0-60

So I went to the JCW web site and there they discuss the JCW GP. What is the GP is that the same thing or something entirely different? on this page it says it delivers 207 HP and 0-60 <6.5 (less than 6.5 ? is that 6.4 or what?)

If an increase of 50 HP shaves 2 seconds off the time is it realistic to think an additional 35 HP might make it a 6 second car?

Just bought a 2005S w/ JCW

I haven't timed 0 - 60, I just know I can get from 60 - 0 on a dime and from 70 - 90 too quickly. For example, I was cruising comfortably at 98 mph on I-5, until I remembered the 3 points on my driving record. I slowed down for a while, but the next thing I remember, I was passing some slower traffic on the right, when I saw a cloud of dust where the oleanders should be and flashing lights. The officer said I was doing 93. I explained that I just bought the car and I was driving it home, so I didn't have insurance (sniff, sniff). He did not give me a speeding ticket, but he did give me a fix-it for not having my drivers license with me. Whew!

JCW

JCW is an very individualized decision.
see some of the links on motoringfile.com for reviews/debates.
As for me, I couldn't be happier with my JCW.
NB: JCW supercharger is only available pre 07 hard top
and convertible till @ 09. The new hard top is turbocharged, without a JCW kit (at least full blown) for now

JCW supercharged convertible will be available until the 2009 remodel comes out.

The turbocharged JCW will supposedly come out in stages over the next 1-4 years, rumors abound, but few hard facts at this point

Ugh...there is conflicting information everywhere when it comes to the power of the JCW.

As for the JCW Supercharged Convert not available until 2009 -- this I know is not correct. I have mine on order for 2008 (production begins 9/1).

I did find Mortoringfile.com and for 2008 all they discuss is the 2008 challenge (something about a mini being race ready). And I did see somehting about stage 1 and so forth. I am lost in that too. Was stage one released or is stage one 2008? I am just trying to get an idea of what the JCW in 2008 is going to be like. Any other car would give me absolute values.....

You're confused because you're reading JCW performance data for two different engines. The Cabrio is still a 1st Generation MINI with the Tritec engine. The 2009 model year marks the introduction of the 2nd Generation Cabrio with Peugeot/BMW engine.

JCW Performance data for all current models is available here.

The JCW Cabrio performance figures attached below indicate 0-62 in 6.7 seconds.

The R&T test would have got another .1 or .2 of a second faster if they had used 16" wheels instead of the horribly heavy 18" JCW's.
