Suspension LOUD Alta Lower rear control arms
LOUD Alta Lower rear control arms
I have M7 springs, and I wanted to eliminate some of the negative camber in the rear as I was tired of chewing up tires. I have the Alta bars installed and now they make the LOUDEST nose. I had my installer recheck everything and we noticed on the bushings that there were wear marks, which I deemed normal, but the noise is obnxious. I'm tempted to take them off and go back to stock and eat tires. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, were you able to fix it? Lube the bushings? Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure why they are so noisy. How long have they been on?
When people say that 'Hiem' style control arms are noisy they are usually referring to transferred road noise. If hiems themselves are making noise then they are shot and should be replaced. I'm just not sure that this is the problem though.

Yeah, my arms are quite noisy, but I have kind of learned to live with it. Plus I am kind of a purist for motorsports. But maybe It would help if (we) bought a second pair for the upper control arms. Just a though though.
I have the lower Alta control arms and have no noise. The day my friend and I installed them, we had also done a spring swap. When I headed home I noticed a "noise" going over bumps. Drove me crazy and I thought it was the control arms but soon found out that we had not tighted down one of the spring caps. Since we corrected that, I have had no noise. I do get under and lube them about every other month with a good shot of grease on the heim joints.
same type of problem i had. It's not the joints persay. Well i guess it is but it's more the flopping of the joints back and forth hitting the sleaves that causes the noise.
Here was my solution to the problem

Be quiet you...no sound needs to come from the peanut gallery.
HEY THUMMMMMMPERNUTS you got the PM! It's about tonight. You IN or OUT?!??
Thank you to all who replied. I really appreciate it. And thankfully I avoided the can of whup a$$!
I think I'll add some grease to the sleeves and make sure it's all tight and see what happens. If none of that helps, it's either back to stock, or H-Sport it is!

yah, i was gonna say... the f- is up your ****?! he made a suggestion.yep, i know it can be frustrating. been modding cars for a while and it
is never one easy task. one thing leads to another, then another, etc.
best to leave the minor issues alone.
(in your case, just eatthe tires unless you need a specific camber angle for track).
Yeah, I was trying to avoid the tire issues, but I'd rather have that then the annoyance of the sound. I don't race it or track it, so adjusting the camber was purely just for tire wear. Live and learn right?
I had Alta rear control arms for two days and the sqeaking drove me crazy, and lubing them is going to be a pain, and needed quite often.
Heim joints are the beast that need taming.
Sold them and bought Ireland arms - great, adjustable, and squeak-free.
