How small of a dent can you fix with PDR?

I've never used PDR (Paintless Dent Removal) services before, but after nine months and 18,000 miles, I've finally gotten the first dent on my MINI.

Problem is, it's not really even a dent. It almost looks like someone leaned against my driver's door or something like that. I only noticed it was there because as I was walking up to the car, I saw the reflection of a streetlight get a little "wavy" as it passed over one spot on my door.

The affected spot is only about the size of a quarter, there's no scratching or scuffing on it, and no crease or indentation that I can see. It just looks like a tiny area of the panel is slightly warped.

Honestly, no one else would ever notice it unless I pointed it out, but it's bugging me knowing that it's there. I just don't know if the damage is too minor to fix with PDR.

I'll try to get a picture up in the next day or two.

Thanks,

They specalize in what you are talking about. Take it to them and see what they say. I've been impressed with what they do. Try to get someone that has been in the business for a while.

+1. Sounds like you've got the perfect "paintless dent". I've had a couple small dents/dings massaged out, and you'd never know there was anything wrong. You should be able to get a small dent like that removed for about $50-$75.

Yep. As long as there is no crease in the paint in the dent, they should be able to pop it out. If it's really easy to get to (top of the bonnet and there is a cut-out so they can reach it from the inside), it should be $40-50. If they have to do a lot of work to snake their tools in there, it will be closer to $100.

I've had 4 dents on my wife's car massaged out and they are now GONE! Her car has a high-gloss black finish on it that shows dents/dings like crazy and they are simply gone.

Sound very do-able for PDR. I usually take it by my PDR guy for him to look at...he'll give me a quote based on the severity of the dent and how hard it will be to access that part of the bodywork. In my opinion finding a good PDR guy is important...shop around to find the best. My PDR guy (in Ft. Worth) is an artist...and even charges less!!

Used PDR once...would do it again in a heartbeat. Could not tell a dent ever existed after they did their magic...

Even so, it is still better than spray paint that will never match.

I just had a smallish dent (administered by the dealer's service tech ) taken out of my MINI. It was a linear dent, about 3" long along the front driver's side wheel arch just next to the seam with the driver's door. The PDR guy came to my work and worked his magic in the parking lot. He had also taken the other dealer-administered dent out of my bonnet almost a year ago when my baby was brand new.

He said he almost thought it was going to be impossible when he first saw it. Apparently MINIs are not so easy to work on due to their double panel construction. He got it out pretty well, but had to do a little wet sanding because the panel had been pressed into a brace behind it, creating both an inward dent as well as an outward dent from the brace. To someone who doesn't know it was ever there, they won't ever know. However, both he and I could tell it is still not absolutely perfect, but it is as close to perfect as it can get with PDR.
