R56 Delivery Evening Photos
Delivery Evening Photos
I took delivery Tuesday evening on Shelby Jr.
Our salesman at Checkered Flag Mini, Mike Arneson, is so good at what he does.
Very laid back and personable type guy.
He made our evening and delivery a very smooth situation.
During this entire process, especially when we were scoping out
the lot several weekends before ordering, he didn't
push and answered all our questions throughly.
Wow, what an experience.
We didn't get out of the dealership until around closing. The hubby was wiped out due to a long HOT day at work. We managed to some how get in 50 miles of drive time.
All these new gadgets in different places from my other cars was confusing at first, but there's hope. It's overwhelming fun to be honest.
We weren't
able to get any outstanding photos due to the camera not liking going from air conditioning to about 95 degrees and outrageous humidity conditions. It was HOT and nasty. The car itself even did a major fog up
when our MA drove it out of the show room into the sauna like conditions.
After we clay bar and wax it this weekend I'll be sure to get some beautiful pics posted.
I drove Shelby Jr. Wednesday to Water Country USA in Williamsburg, VA. My 13 year old son and his friend enjoyed the Mini back seat adventure to the tee.
I usually hate
this drive because of the traffic,
especially on the way home. This trip was so different.
I loved the drive and didn't even notice the traffic.
My only complaint thus far is that I've chalked up around 150 miles and still haven't come across another Mini driver to wave at.:impatient Where did all the Minis go.
My first wave from my own Mini will be an epic event for me.
Who will it be?
So here's my not so epic
delivery pics due to having to wipe the camera lens every two seconds...
1st pic - Here's Shelby Jr.
2nd pic - Mike (better known as our MA) removing Mini from the show room floor and into the lot. Check out the smile
on that face,
and he's only the salesman.
3rd pic - My husband, Bill, and Mike doing the final hand shake to begin our Mini adventure.

Thanks everyone!
You know it!
Thanks!
The driving lights were such an off/on (no pun intended
) option there for awhile. I'm glad we stuck to getting them. I think they add a nice look. Congrats to you also dear.
I see that you took delivery while I was biting into the nails deeply over the last couple of day.

WOOT WOOT! Congrats MINI S Pilot on the arrival of Shelby Jr. He is one sharp looking MCS, yes he is!
So, you see it is true that, a MINI can rock your world and alter your perspective on things as evidenced by your trip Water Country in Williamsburg. I do think that you will be in motoring bliss as you and Shelby Jr. rack up the miles together.
Oh, BTW, don't forget to take the pic of Shelby Jr. next to his big bro (Shelby - Bill's GT500) as I think it would be awesome! Looking forward to seeing it!
Hopefully, the awful humidity in VA will tone down some in the next couple of days and, your camera will be able to do it's job.
So, get out there, motor safely, and get Shelby Jr. thru his break-in period... Then you can really turn loose! Enjoy!
Motor On!

Thanks for all the nice comments!!!
We would like to try to make it out to that event,
and also the ferry run coming up soon.
I'm trying to make it part of the plans for the weekend.
Checkered Flag has a great staff.
We dealt with Simon, he actually put our order in since Mike (our MA)wasn't coming in until later that day. Simon explained that Mike still gets the credit since he worked with us many times during our various trips there to check out the inventory before deciding to order. Simon was very through and is a really nice guy at that. He saved us another trip out. He also was my husband's girlfriend's salesman and they speak highly of him.
All the staff there has been very hopeful and understanding.
We made many trips there to visit while waiting for ours to come in.
We had to get our Mini Fixx each week.
Oh, you remember that the hubby has the Shelby GT500.
We will get pics of them together for sure.
I'll be sure to post them.
If the weather allows it. You're right, it's HOT!
Yes, keeping the revs at bay is something I'm having to surely keep my eye on,
for now.
I'm use to playing a little harder with the GT500.
It also had a break in period to watch, so we'll be tacking on the miles fast.
The N2 BEADZ is not
really an African Trade Bead thing. I work with crystals and glass beads of various types.
I've learned many bead stitches and weaves in the past few years and fell in love with the hobby itself. My son and I also purchased a lampwork set up and now make our own inventory.
I'll post pics soon of a lampworked (flame formed glass) Dichroic Chili Pepper and Dichroic Dragon a friend made that works in Borosilicate glass. They are proudly hanging from my rear view mirror. Thanks for asking.
I have the plate SHLBY JR on reserve on a truck we own.
I have 90 days to decide about the change.

See it worked.
Many of the guys on the hubby's GT500 forum are so glad I found another forum to hang out on.
That forum has some serious gear heads that don't enjoy having a good time on the forum unless you have something techinal to discuss.
It's lightened up over the months, but I enjoy this forum so much more. Oh did I mention that forum had a selection of about 75 different smiley faces?
How do I put in a request for more emotions on this forum?
I thought the Chili Pepper and Dragon would look
great in the Mini, and they sure do.
I've already had two people ask about them just driving around town today.
Snapped a few fast pics last night.
Couldn't resist adding in the Canadian Geese that didn't seem to bothered by our arrival.
Notice the smile on the husbands face? I think he like driving the Mini just about as much as his GT500. Our son was also having a blast.
Proof that there is plenty of room in the back of the Mini.
He just turned 13 and is almost as tall as I am at 5' 8 1/2".:impatient
