R56 Anthracite Headliner and trim suggestions?
Anthracite Headliner and trim suggestions?
Hi all, two quick questions. I decided to change the exterior color on my recently ordered MINI Cooper S from Astro Black/White to Sparkling Silver/Black and the interior from Lounge Carbon Black to Lounge Redwood Red; if I don't opt for Anthracite what color will the headliner be? I did a search but could only find pictures of the headliner on MINI's with a black interior so I'm not sure if by opting for Redwood the headliner color is changed as well. Also does anyone have pictures of the Redwood interior with any trim other than Piano Black? Although it seems like the black goes best I have a couple concerns with it being plastic and reports of scratching easily.
Thanks so much for any and all input :-)

if you don't opt for anthracite, the headliner is a putty grey color no matter what your interior choices. IMHO, will not look good with redwood.
The black may show scratches but unless they are deep gouges, any good plastic polish will get rid of them

You can look in my gallery. I have the dark silver/black with the lounge redwood leather and anthracite headliner. I think it is one of the best, most luxurious interiors I have ever seen on a car, the only thing I regret is not getting the chrome rings around the gauges.
Also, if you get the redwood red leather you have to get the piano black trim. It is not an option to change it. In the almost 3 months since I owned my car I haven't experienced any bad scratches. Maybe a couple of fingerprints, but no bad scratches.

Thank you so much for the input! Yea I'll definitely be going with the Anthracite headliner for sure. A clarification however, is that 200 bucks just getting me the darker color or is it a different material as well???
That's my current debate exactly. I love the look of the oak and was going to go with it for sure with the black lounge leather but I'm just worried about how it will look with redwood. For now I'm leaning towards Piano Black as I like the look of it better overall BUT picking plastic over wood? Given that I'm a bit material obsessed, that's a tough one... Especially for plastic that's said to be extremely scratch prone.
Actually one other thing that I didn't mention before that is kind of nagging me. How much do you guys think it's worth it to spend $100 on the white turn signals? With my original color choice of Astro Black I thought it made a really nice contrast but with Sparkling Silver I dunno. It is my only option which I'm still debating. Once again all input is encouraged and appreciated; THANKS!

You actually do have the option of trims with the Redwood. I debated between the Brushed Alloy and the Piano Black (ultimately chose the black). You also have the option to choose the Fluid Silver trim. It depends if you want more of a sportier look (then choose either the alloy or silver) or a classier/richer look (then choose the black with the chromeline for an excellent contrast. Additionally, if you choose alloy or silver then I would go with the normal putty grey headliner, but if you choose the piano black then I would go with the anthractie unless you don't mind your interior looking somewhat mis-matched (i.e. grey with grey, black with black). In the end I went with Redwood, Piano Black, Chromeline, Anthracite and I am very pleased with my selections
. (The reason jrunner may have thought you have no choice is b/c piano black is the default choice with redwood but once you click on the dash/door/trim option you see that you have the opportunitiy to change your selection to the silver and alloy I mentioned above.)
As far as the white lights - I would do it..imo it would look really good with a grey or black car and I'm not sure if you could even change it after market yet if you decided to go with the std. It's only $100 more - ask your MA to take that $100 off or you're walking.
Btw, which dealer are you going with?

carla99 - Thanks for the input! Yea I'm pretty much decided on both the anthracite headliner and Piano Black trim. It by far looks the best and I tend to treat my possessions QUITE carefully so hopefully it will hold up fine even with its known issues. I'm pretty sure I'll stick with the white lights as well since they do look quite nice and Otto's is already giving me $300 off MSRP plus I'm saving $100 by not going with the English Oak.
So that makes the pretty much final configuration (of which opinions are more than encouraged :-P):
-Cooper S
-6-Speed Auto w/Agitronic Mode
-Sparkling Silver Body Color
-Black Roof/Mirrors
-White Turn Signals
-Sport Package w/ 17" Crown-Spoke (Performance) & Black Bonnet Stripes
-Rear Fog Lamp
-Rain Sensor and Auto Headlamps
-Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror
-Premium Package
-Cold Weather Package
-Chrome Line Interior
-Anthracite Headliner
-Dark Grey Color Line
-Leather: Lounge Redwood Red
-Interior Surface Piano Black
-10-Speaker. Hi-Fi Sound System
-Park Distance Control
Also planning on the following accessories:
-Illuminated Sills - MINI Cooper S
-Shift **** - Redwood Red
-E-Brake Handle - Redwood Red
Would love to get the steering wheel in Redwood Red as well but 400 bucks for something that minimal is a bit much. Does anyone have the installation costs and/or pictures of any of the 3 above items???
THANK YOU

Your car is gonna be HOT HOT HOT!!!!! I may get the redwood on my shift and ebrake as well but that won't happen for atleast a few months. I also wanted the illuminated door sills but I was quoted $600 (extra amount for the installation time/fees) and I was already over more than what I wanted to spend so maybe I'll treat myself to that option later too
. I can't wait to see pics of your new baby. Please pm me once its here in the fall.

Just get the antracite headliner. Dont look back. Dont doubt. My MA said today that the worse combo he had seen was Redwood Leather with the puddy grey headliner. Do it. No debate. They should make it mandatory with that leather. The black lounge leather looks OK. The redwood red not.
carla99 - THANKS, I reallyyy cannot wait! But WOW, $600??? I'm actually waiting to hear back from my MA with a quote including installation, if it is that much I may have to reconsider (for now at least) as I'm a good bit over my self-proposed budget as well. But I'll be sure to get some pictures and let you know as soon as it arrives!
emtrey - Yea, I actually thought the same; I'm waiting to hear back from my MA and will let you all know.
Aonach - Totally agreed, especially after hearing that I'm no longer doubting that anthracite is the way to go. I actually was asking about it NOT because I'm considering the standard grey but rather because I was confused as to rather the headliner is offered in a beige color. It could just be me being color blind but doesn't the headliner here look neither grey nor anthracite? This guy actually has the exact exterior and interior combination I'm looking to order (other than the wheels and exterior chrome line trim) so I was trying to get most ideas for what my MINI will look like just from his album as I'm on vacation in Rio right now and therefore can't go into a MINI dealership until the 14th.

looks like wood or oem leather according to parts book. Don't see any part number for redwood at this point.
I would be curious as to cost of **** and installation if you find out any info.

The car that made me decide to get the redwood red leather was actually a car on the showroom floor with almost the exact same specs you are talking about. It was a very attractive choice. I just chose the dark silver because ,to me, it was a little more sporty looking.
Also, I have the white tail lights and would have to agree they look great on the car.
correction...according to the You-ification catalog, there is a redwood red leather shift know for automatic Minis--..no clue on installation pricing.
